Family Owned, Family Focused

Arthur Zacharias

December 24, 1937 – February 17, 2019

It is with sadness that we, the family of Arthur Zacharias, announce his passing to his eternal home in the morning of Sunday, February 17, 2019. Art was born on December 24, 1937 to Aron and Tena (Friesen) Zacharias. His growing up years and elementary schooling took place in the Garthland School district north of Duck Lake. In his late teens he attended the Rosthern Bible School where he met Edna Pauls who became the love of his life. They married in 1959 and spent almost 60 years sharing joys and sorrows. Their marriage was completed with chosen children Kelly and Sherma who blessed them with families. Kelly’s children Derek (Amanda), Ocean (Dallen), Kelly Jr., Kennedy and Kale. Sherma with spouse Sheila and their children, Sydney, Cooper and Riley. Great grandchildren, Ethan, Riley, Brooklyn, Story, Nevada, Kaylixx, and Debra. Art farmed for many years and also spent many years doing electrical work. In his later years his passion was volunteering which could be rebuilding with Mennonite Disaster Service or cutting lawns in the neighborhood. His strong faith was nurtured in his faith family at Osler Mennonite Church where he contributed where he could. He enjoyed singing in the choirs and the Joy Singers Quartet. We believe he is continuing singing in the angel choirs – but their harps better be in tune! Memorial donations may be made to Mennonite Disaster Services, 200-600 Shaftesbury Blvd. Winnipeg, MB R3P 2J1. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, 7:00 p.m. at Dalmeny Funeral Home, 139 3rd Street, Dalmeny, SK. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2019, 2:00 p.m. at the Osler Mennonite Church, 212 2nd Ave, Osler, SK with interment to follow. Arrangements entrusted to Stefan Funk – DALMENY FUNERAL HOME (306-254-2022).

Edna, we heard the sad news Sunday. J & R were visiting here. We shared many warm memories of your family starting back in 1973. Duane recalled Art teaching him mowing grass in the church yard and chopping fire wood. He shoveled snow on the weekend in memory of Art. May God’s peace be with you. Ernie & Judy

Art was a farmer, a quartet and choir singer, a deacon in the Osler Mennonite Church, a volunteer for Mennonite Disaster Service, an electrician, a volunteer at Camp Shekinah, and a family man. He died at the church, a place he loved. He lived life to the full. We will miss him.

May God’s comforting arms of love surround you and your family. So sorry for your loss. I have so many fond memories of our times together but my favorite is when Art was Harold’s best man at our wedding! Love and prayers.
