Marjorie (Marge) Kehler
May, 1935 – Sept. 15, 2026
“I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.” (John 11:25, 26)
Our mom, grandma, great grandma (Nana) was born in Rosthern, Sk. to Abram and Sarah Konrath. Her early years were spent in Carlton, then the family moved to Crooked River for a year, as her dad found work in the sawmill. The family moved to Saskatoon, where mom attended Mayfair School, then City Park Collegiate, where she graduated with top marks. Mom participated in many school activities, including captain of the basketball team.
Upon graduation, mom worked as a bank teller, then later in married life at Peavy Mart, and finally at Sears for 23 years. All of our appliances, electronics, tires, and most of our presents came from Sears. What a huge disappointment when Sears closed and mom lost her 15% discount.
Mom and dad were married on Sept. 4, 1954 at Mayfair Mennonite Church. They had known each other for years and attended youth group. Brenda was born in 1958, Glen in 1959, and Laurie in 1963.
In 1968, our family moved from Saskatoon to 80 acres, 6 miles south of Dalmeny. Mom enjoyed rural life, and always tended a huge garden. Immediately we became part of the Dalmeny fabric, with school, community, and especially Dalmeny Bible Church. Further moves for mom and dad included Dalmeny and Saskatoon.
When dad passed away in 2023, mom continued to live in Bethany Tower, until her health forced her to move twice in 2025, the last into Bethany Villa.
Mom was a person of quiet, deep faith. She accepted Jesus as her Saviour at the age of 7, recording that, “He took my sins away. I was very happy then.” Mom was very active in the church, helping in Space Cubs (weekly club for very young children), Hospitality Committee, Food Committee, and being part of the ladies’ group. Mom and dad served faithfully as deacons for years, visiting many people who needed encouragement.
Mom and dad complemented each other so well. Dad would invite people over, often on short notice, and would say, “We will just thin out the soup,” and mom would always have a delicious meal ready. Mom was a ‘Dorcas’ from the Bible, full of kindness and generosity.
Mom enjoyed playing games with friends and family. Games included card games, ping pong, and crokinole. Once mom and dad faced each other in a crokinole final with mom winning. She said dad let her win, but we were not convinced of that. The prize – a watermelon!
We mourn losing our mom, but rejoice she is in heaven with Jesus and dad.
Left to survive are daughter Brenda (Greg) Guarnett, Glen (Kelly) Kehler, Laurie (Cal) Fehr; grandchildren Sara, Jonathan, Jarett (Jay), Kayla (Mark), Lukas (Kiara), Tyson (Hannah); great grandchildren Padan, Jacey, Abner, Eve, Henry, Simeon, Ainsley, Addy, Oliver, and Jasper.
We would like to thank the staff at RUH, Dr. Viden, and the staff at Bethany Villa for the compassionate care given to mom.
A celebration of life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026 at Bethany Fellowship Centre, 110 La Ronge Rd, Saskatoon (Entrance 110).
