Lynne Currie
July 16, 1941 – July 4, 2025
Lynne Currie (née Erickson), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Saskatoon on July 4, 2025, just shy of her 84th birthday. Born on July 16, 1941, in Saskatoon to Paul and Vi Erickson, Lynne’s life was defined by compassion, creativity, and an enduring love for family and community.
A gifted pianist and passionate teacher, Lynne dedicated many years to sharing the joy of music with her students, leaving a lasting impression on generations of young musicians. Her lessons extended far beyond the piano bench, teaching patience, discipline, and the power of expression through music.
After completing her nursing training at the Kelsey Institute in 1981, Lynne worked for a decade with care and kindness, bringing comfort to her patients and strength to her colleagues. Her nurturing spirit continued throughout her life as a devoted homemaker and the heart of her household, always ready with a warm smile or a light-hearted story.
Lynne’s creativity extended to the arts and crafts she enjoyed at home. She was an avid reader and found joy in crocheting small treasures for loved ones. As a proud member and volunteer of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 63, she dedicated herself to honouring veterans and supporting local events.
She delighted in travel—favourite destinations included the shores of Hawaii, the warmth of Palm Springs, and the wild beauty of Australia—but her heart always remained in Saskatoon, where her family was her greatest joy.
Lynne is survived by her loving husband Larry of sixty-five years; daughters Shelley (Rob) Ouellette and Susan (Bill) Redekop; son Jay (Suzie) Currie ; grandchildren Brandi (Travis), Tyler, Nathaniel, Benjamin, Ariana, and Ferris; and five great‑grandchildren. She joins in heaven her parents, Paul and Vi Erickson; her brother Eric; and her grandson Cody Listoe, whose memory she carried in her heart.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lynne’s wonderful life on Thursday, August 28, at 2:00 PM at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 63, 606 Spadina Cres W, Saskatoon, SK. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Legion Branch 63, in honour of Lynne’s dedication to community service.
A spirited hostess, accomplished pianist, and devoted matriarch, Lynne’s legacy lives on in the music she taught, the stories she shared, and the lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
