Erwin M. Siemens
May 29, 1945 – December 15, 2023
It is with sadness that the family of Erwin M. Siemens announces his death on December 15, 2023, after a courageous fourteen-month battle with lung cancer.
He is survived by his wife, Tena; daughters, Andrea (Joel) and Marsha; three cherished grandchildren – Kathe (Graham), Faith (Mathew) and Micah; three brothers – Neil (Juliana), Al (Marianne) and Lawrence (Carrie); two sisters-in-law Tina Siemens and Elsie Siemens; the Guenther family; and numerous nieces and nephews. Erwin was predeceased by his parents, Jacob and Lena Siemens, three brothers, two sisters, two brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law.
Erwin was born in Nokomis, Saskatchewan and lived his early life in Drake. During and after his school years, Erwin worked for area farmers. Later on, he attended Swift Current Bible School where he met Tena. They were married on August 3, 1968. In 1970, they spent one year performing voluntary service in Akron, Pennsylvania where Erwin worked in the material aid warehouse. He spent many hours delivering relief supplies to various piers and states for distribution.
His love of driving led to numerous summer trips to Ontario to pick up new school buses, bringing them back to Saskatoon, sometimes with his young family on board. Later in life, Erwin returned to his bus driving as a substitute driver for First Bus, but he spent his working years at Harding Industries fabricating sheet metal and, from 1982 to 2005, he worked at the Saskatoon Board of Education as Caretaker.
In his quiet, unassuming way, Erwin served the Mount Royal Mennonite Church as an usher for many years and made it his responsibility to clean the gym floor on a regular basis as well as whatever else needed doing. He also enjoyed his time at home, gardening with Tena, and spending time with his Saskatoon and Ontario grandchildren. These things sum up Erwin’s life very well. He loved God, his family, and being of service to others. The many lives he touched will miss him greatly.
The Memorial Service will be held at Mount Royal Mennonite Church on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.

Hello Tena, and family. Words cannot express the sadness I feel as I remember Erwin and think about you in this time of loss. My prayer is that you will find comfort in each other and your fond memories of husband, father and grandfather. May you feel God’s presence and experience and the comfort of friends, in these days and the coming weeks and months. Len Andres
I remember Erin well as a colleague.eague with the public board of education. I considered him a friend. I particularly remember his words of encouragement when I was preparing for an interview to be a principal. We just happened to meet at my office prior to the interview …… his words of encouragement were significant in providing me with confidence going to the interview. I will always remember him for that occasion and for his friendship.

Tena and family, our deepest sympathy to you. Erwin was such a kind, gentle man, we could not have asked for better neighbors. Our dogs looked for him at the fence even after you moved. They knew he had treats for them. Take care, sincerely Ruth & Bryan Smith
