Colleen Evelyn Parenteau
July 20, 1962 – November 6, 2023
Colleen was born in Nipawin, Saskatchewan on July 20th, 1962 to William and Peggy Foster. Colleen’s childhood included living in Carlton and later Duck Lake SK where she graduated.
Colleen went on to Saskatoon Business College and worked many years as a legal secretary.
She met her husband and companion Rodney Parenteau when she was 19. A few years later they wed on June 30, 1984. They bought their first acreage east of Langham which still had a “party line” and no running water but through hard work, they upgraded the farm and welcomed their daughter Mandy in 1986. A few years later they bought the Thiessen farm a mile south and settled down to raise their family. In 1990, they welcomed their second child, a son, Randall.
In 1991 Rodney and Colleen founded Parenteau’s Gourmet Foods where they took a humble Saskatoon berry farm and created a successful business. Summers included picking berries and winters doing trade shows around Alberta and Saskatchewan. When they weren’t building their business Colleen enjoyed curling, travelling, cheering on the Saskatchewan Roughriders and time with family and friends.
Colleen lived an active and vibrant life as much as she could. She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis over 20 years ago but that didn’t stop her from travelling to New York, New Port Beach, Bulgaria and Dominican Republic to name a few places. She stayed active raising her children and supported them in their sports endeavours and was always there to cheer them on. In her later years she enjoyed spending time at the lake and with her grandchildren Owen, Oliver and Noella.
Colleen spent her last few years at Porteous Lodge in Saskatoon and passed away peacefully with family at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, SK.
Colleen is remembered by her husband and companion Rodney. Her daughter Mandy (Shane) Nemanishen, their children Owen, Oliver and Noella. Her Son Randall Parenteau.
Her siblings Terry (Lorraine) Foster, Barb (Mike) Monachino, Christine (Gordon) Giesbrecht, twin sister Corinne (Bob) Cobbe. Her nephews (spouses) and cousins.
She will be remembered by many on the Parenteau’s side of the family, cousins and friends.
A Service Of Remembrance will be held Sunday, November 12, 2023 2:00 P.M at Cornerstone Church, 315 Lenore Drive, Saskatoon SK.
