Janet Alice Tauber
January 25, 1942 – August 11, 2026
Janet passed away at the age of 84 on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the Royal University Hospital, where she’d been for 12 days following a 5 year journey with Alzheimer’s.
She was born in Yorkton, SK and was the oldest of 4 siblings. She grew up on the farm near Springside, SK, and attended all 12 years of school in the 1-room schoolhouse there. After graduating, she went on to a career in nursing, beginning in Saskatoon where she met her lifelong love, Robert Tauber (Bob). They married in 1965 and went on to pastor churches in Banff, Kelowna, Aylmer and Saskatoon. They also spent 4 years in Eston, where Bob taught at the Bible College. Bob and Jan had 2 daughters, Kerry Lynn and Barb – both born in Kelowna. She nursed at each of these locations and actively served in the churches alongside Bob, playing piano, hosting events, leading ladies’ groups and whatever else was needed.
After Bob’s passing in 2015, she moved from their home to Elim Lodge and then Hyde Park, which she and Bob had pre-purchased as their retirement home. She spent 9 lovely years there, making many good friends and enjoying being so closely located and connected to their home church, Elim. After retiring from nursing, she worked at a ladies’ clothing store, Fashion Chronicle, until she was 79 years old! Her last year and a half was spent in the Personal Care Home at Hyde Park.
Jan loved being with friends and family and found every reason to celebrate. Nothing brought her more joy than her 5 grandkids. We will miss her warm hugs and apple pie but are thankful that she is with Jesus and reunited with our dad.
Jan will be missed beyond measure by her daughter Kerry (Cameron) Lewis, their children Lindsay (Jacob) Young and Seth (Jaryn) Lewis; daughter Barb (Murray) Fredlund, and their children Kylie (Carter) Johnson, Mackenzie (Reagan) Gibbons and Tyler; her sister Donna Milbrandt; brothers Gerhard (Doreen) Pretzlaw and Lorne (WaiCheng) Pretzlaw; as well as many nieces and nephews. Janet was predeceased by her parents Herman and Alice Pretzlaw.
A Celebration Of Jan’s Life will be held at Elim Church, 419 Slimmon Road, Saskatoon, SK on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 1:00 p.m.. To watch the live stream please click the link below.

Dear Kerry, Barb and families, I was saddened to hear the news of your mother’s passing but encouraged to know that she has heard from her Savior Jesus “well done, good and faithful servant…” I am eternally grateful to have connected with your mother Jan (and your father Bob, Pastor Bob) through Elim’s SALT (Single Adult ministry). I am honored to have known both them and the two of you and your families. May our God of HOPE fill you and the whole family with all JOY and PEACE as you trust in Him and may you overflow with HOPE by the power of the Holy Spirit!!
Daniel 12:3 “Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.”
Until you meet again, their legacies will shine on through the faithful lives they lived!!
I am saddened to hear of Janet’s passing from this life. Bob brought Janet to see my late wife Myrna and me in Saskatoon the day he met her and that began an enjoyable and lasting relationship especially for them but also for us. God bless you as you mourn your loss.
What a beautiful tribute. Sending our condolences. Wray and Laura Stone

Dear Kerry, Barb & families, I am very sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. I got to know Jan through Singles for Christ in Saskatoon. She and your Dad had huge hearts for the Lord and the singles’ ministry. May God surround you with His love, strength and comfort.
