Harry Guenter

September 25, 1942 – July 26, 2026

Harry Guenter was born on September 25, 1942 in his grandparent’s home near Hochstadt, SK. as the eldest child of Henry Guenter and Mary (Friesen) Guenter. He grew up in his parents’ newly built home across the road, along with two brothers and four sisters born into the family over the next sixteen years.

Harry began his schooling in 1948, completing Grades 1-7 at Pembroke School in Neuanlage, SK. In fall 1957, Harry and his siblings transferred to Hague School, where he completed grades 8-10.  During a tent meeting in July, 1955, Harry accepted Christ as his Savior from sin and received assurance of eternal life as God’s Word promised in John 3:16. Along with his family, Harry began attending a small gospel church where he learned more about God and His Word. Before deciding to finish high school, he obtained a diploma at Steinbach Bible Institute, then completed grades 11 & 12 at Rosthern Junior College. These years were always a very special memory for him!

Harry married Connie Friesen in 1979. Son Chad was born in 1980 and Jonathan in 1982. Harry enjoyed being a father to his sons, loved to play sports with them, and carried out his responsibilities as a father faithfully throughout his life. In the last few years, the roles were reversed and his son Jonathan cared for Harry faithfully, just as he had been shown.

During his lifetime, Harry worked at a variety of jobs starting with farm labor and work at Robin Hood Flour Mills, before becoming a salesman and also a realtor, although he often went home to help on the farm where his assistance was always greatly appreciated. Eventually, he found his sweet spot as a cab driver and even owned his own franchise for a number of years. He was known for his kindness and thoughtfulness in his interactions with customers and other drivers.

Harry was diagnosed with dementia early in 2021 and sadly passed away on July 26, 2026. He is survived by his wife Connie, his sons Chad and Jonathan, his siblings Daniel, Vangi, Ruben (Barb), Anna (Mark), Judy (Ted) and Luetta, and by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents Henry and Mary (July 26,1981), brother-in-law Milt Munchinsky and sister-in-law, Julia Guenter.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Bay Park Baptist Church, 1419 33rd Street W, Saskatoon, SK with burial to follow at Hochstadt Cemetery.

Arrangements entrusted to Dalmeny Funeral Home 306-254-2022.

  1. My heart and thoughts are with all of Harry’s family. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have known Harry for many years, spending countless hours in their home as a teenager where he was always very welcoming. Although as the years passed, our visits were few and far between, all of my interactions with him were filled with kindness and love.
