Ernie Rotsey

April 18, 1943 – June 5, 2026

Ernie Rotsey, of Saskatoon, SK, passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 83 years. He is survived by his brother Evan (Debbie) Rotsey, his niece Kaitlyn and nephew Jayden.

Ernie was born in North Battleford and grew up on a farm by Jackfish Lake and moved to Saskatoon when he was 18.

He was employed by the city for a number of years until he decided to work for himself and bought a small business called “The Ski Swap Shop” where he bought and sold used ski equipment. Over the years the business grew into what was known as “The Ski Hut”. This went for 29 years until he retired in 2006.  Ernie’s passions were downhill skiing, motorcycles, photography and guitars.

He is predeceased by his parents Robert and Margaret Rotsey, older brother Edward and ex-wife April.     

A private family interment will take place at Meota Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Dalmeny Funeral Home 306-254-202.

  1. Ernie was a true character in the best possible way part businessman, part daredevil, and always unforgettable. Whether it was stories about motorcycles, life lessons, or simply his unique way of doing things, he left an impression on everyone who knew him. I feel fortunate to have worked for him and to have known him. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

  2. Saddened to hear of Ernie’s passing. I had the opportunity to know him through family gatherings in Saskatchewan with my sister Debbie and her husband Evan.
    He will be remembered for his calm presence and love of motorcycles. My condolences to the Rotsey family. Blessings! He is now at peace with the Lord – his eternal home.
