Robert “Bob” Romanyshyn
July 16, 1945 – May 16, 2026
Bob passed away peacefully at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, his children at his side.
He was born in Gilbert Plains, Manitoba in 1946 to a family with Ukrainian values and traditions. He spent his childhood in Edmonton, socializing often with cousins and neighbors, and it was during this time that his lifelong love of birds and animals developed. He eventually attended the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, earning a diploma in Biological Sciences Technology in 1975. He worked for Alberta Parks at Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park, Bow Valley Provincial Park and at Dillberry Lake Provincial Park, and spent a great deal of time outdoors with his family in those years. He lived in Alberta until 2016, when he moved to Saskatoon to be closer to family.
Dad had a strong will to live on his own terms, always true to his own needs and values. He enjoyed sitting in the sun with his cat and feeding birds. He always made friends with any dog that crossed his path. He loved music, especially Canadian pop and country.
He is survived by his sister Gail Shewchuk (Barry Shewchuk, d 1995), nephews Casey and Nick Shewchuk, mother of his children Anne Luross, daughter Erin Romanyshyn (Allan Parson), grandsons Morris and Dominic Parson, son Joel Romanyshyn (Erin Romanyshyn), grandsons Hudson, Jack and Kai Romanyshyn.
Arrangements entrusted to Dalmeny Funeral Home 306-254-2022.
