Tena Dyck
January 7, 1938 – April 29, 2026
Tena Dyck was born on January 7, 1938, to Isaac and Anna (Hamm) Fehr. She was number 5 of 11 children and was born on the farm in the Hague area. Mom and dad met through friends, and they started dating steady August 30, 1955, at her brother Cornie’s birthday party. She was baptized by Abram Buhler on May 2, 1955, in the Reinfeld Bergthaler Mennonite Church. Mom felt the need to recommit her life to Christ, and she did this at the Aberdeen Mennonite Church in 1973.
Before getting married and devoting her life to raising a family, mom worked at a cafe and then at a broom store in Saskatoon. Mom and dad were married on July 29, 1956, along with her sister Anne and Peter Klassen. When mom and dad were first married, they lived on an acreage to the north of Saskatoon. With time, the opportunity came along to buy the parents’ farm to the north of Aberdeen, so they moved there and farmed.
They started a family at that location which consisted of 5 children. With time they started going to Aberdeen Church and dad got quite involved as Sunday School teacher and deacon; mom was there to support him as best she could and also helped the Ladies Aid.
After 37 years farming, in 1996, mom and dad decided to sell the farm and move to BC to retire. They lived in Armstrong, BC till dad passed away in November 2021. From there mom moved into the Vernon Restholm where she was until her passing. She passed away peacefully and entered into the arms of Jesus on April 29.
Mom endured many health hardships in her life, and it was even more prominent in the later years till she took her last breath. Even in these times of pain and suffering, she was still always curious as to what and how everyone was doing. She lived her life to the fullest that she possibly could and was always ready to play multiple games of Skip-Bo with anyone who wanted too. Somehow mom was able to win, even if she forgot to play her main pile first. Those extra cards she picked up, would sometimes go under her deck, but more frequently, they probably just went back on the pickup pile.
Mom leaves behind her children: Carol, Ken, Janet, Glenn (Barb), Terry (Carla); 11 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Also, her siblings and in-laws: Jake Fehr, Sarah Fehr, Martha Fehr, Peter (Linda) Fehr, Sarah (Dave) Friesen, Helen Unruh, Henry Dyck and Wendy Braun.
