Stanley Delainey

June 27, 1942 – March 28, 2025

With broken hearts and deep regret, we, the family, announce the passing of Stanley Edward Delainey on March 28, 2025.

Stan was born in Watson, SK on June 27, 1942. The youngest son of Phillip and Rose Delainey, he was pre-deceased by his parents and older brother Archibald (Helen), and is survived by brothers Phillip (Diane) and Clarence (Margaret). Stan attended Iron Spring grade school and went on to Watson High where he graduated grade 12 at the age of 28.

Stan married the love of his life Genevieve Geenen on November 21, 1964. Their enduring love spanned over 6 decades and brought forth 8 children: Shelly (Wayne), Ian (Marnie), Christine (Byron), Liala (Shawn), Charlotte (Barry), Joseph (Teresa), Kevin and Jeanine (Frank). In turn their children have blessed them with 18 grandchildren.

Stan was a devout Catholic, Pro-Life Supporter and proud member of the Knights of Columbus. Stan was often busy volunteering or with charitable events. After more than 31 years as a Saskatoon City bus driver, Stan retired in 2007. Stan was a man who rarely sat still; he always seemed to have a project on the go. Stan and Jenny loved to dance and were often seen gracing dance floors over the years. Stan had a competitive spirit and a love for the outdoors, but he loved nothing more than his family. He was always happy for a visit and large family meals followed by playing cards or board games.

His half smile, twinkling eyes and heart felt hugs will be sorely missed by all who received them. A Prayer Service will be held Friday, April 4, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at Dalmeny Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held and livestreamed on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Parish. All friends and family are welcome to attend.

Dear Delainey Family- I am truly saddened to learn of your heart-breaking loss. I had the honour of getting to know Stan many years ago, as a classmate in the Grade 12 Class of Watson High School in 1971..He was a gentle and caring person who was like a big brother to all of us. We all looked up to him. I admired him for his desire & dedication to complete his Grade 12 education despite being in a class of teenagers!! I well remember & still recall how devoted he was to his lovely wife and their young family.Stan made a positive impact on everyone he met, including myself & our classmates.. I am grateful for having known him. May precious memories comfort, bless and guide you, his loved ones. May you always walk surrounded by the sunshine of his love.
