Terrence “Terry” Elliot Boucher

Terrence “Terry” Elliot Boucher

1955-2024

It is with great sadness that the family of Terrence Elliot Boucher announces his sudden passing in Saskatoon on January 15, 2024. He was 68 years old.

After college, Terry left the family home in Thunder Bay, Ontario, and hitch-hiked to Whitehorse, Yukon. He lived happily there for many years. This was the beginning of Terry’s independent and resourceful lifestyle. Eventually he settled in Saskatoon, where he lived for 40 years.

Terry was a kind and gentle man, and maintained an optimistic attitude towards life. He enjoyed the outdoors in all seasons. It would not be unusual for him to be seen kicking a soccer ball around in the winter cold. He played basketball as well, but preferred the soccer ball as it was quieter, and less likely to disturb others. Terry also enjoyed camping, ice skating, snow shoeing, reading, and listening to short wave radio.

Each year, Terry would submit a piece of LEGO art to VASU (Visual Arts Student’s Union – University of Saskatchewan) for their annual auction. For his continued support, Terry was considered an honorary member. The creation of the art and the comradery he especially enjoyed.

Throughout his life, Terry would enjoy, and appreciate all the little things in life that many of us might take for granted. He made the most of his time. Terry was well known in Saskatoon and a life-sized portrait of him by a local artist was on display for many years at Earl’s Saskatoon restaurant.

To those who knew and befriended Terry over the years, know that your friendship and support meant the world to him.  Terry’s family is forever grateful to you.

Arrangements entrusted to Dalmeny Funeral Home 306-254-2022.

I am so deeply saddened to hear this news. Terry started off as a gentleman I would run into at a local pub I once worked at and then became my yard guy during the summer and fall months. I enjoyed his quick wit, his wonderful stories and his great sense of humor. He always was carrying his soccer ball and his little radio with him and a bag with trinkets that he had collected or been given. We gave him some Lego one year and he loved it! Even after I moved, we still ran into one another and he’d always make time to stop and chat and catch me up on his life. He was one of a kind, a wonderful soul and I will cherish my memories of him. He was my friend and I will miss him greatly. R.I.P Terry.

Terry was a regular visitor. to our building on campus and frequent attendee to college events. We looked forward to his visits and chats. A truly unique character, Terry will be missed by all of us who knew him. Rest in peace, Little Terry .

On a long weekend In the summer of 2007 I needed someone to help me build the flowerbed around my new pond. Enter Terry Boucher. Using plywood, we built it without nails. After that I saw Terry often. He lived nearby. He cared so much about this city he once ran for City Council. Too bad he didn’t win. City Hall could have used a person like Terry. Truly a Local Character.
