Darlene Johnson

June 14, 1942 – October 9, 2023

Darlene passed away on October 9, 2023 at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon after a long battle with myasthenia gravis and peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord and savior.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Rockne; daughter Karen; son Darrell; brothers Gordon (Pat) and Larry (Gloria); sisters Beverly, Janet (Reg) and Geraldine (Gene); brothers-in-law Oliver (Barbara) and Brian (Norma); sister-in-law Patricia, and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was predeceased by her parents, Martin and Mildred Mahovsky; brother Arnold; brothers-in-law Larry and Cornelius; and sisters-in-law Lena and Joyce.

Darlene was born in Frankfurt, Ontario and moved to Saskatchewan at age 6. She completed her schooling at Broderick, Geneva, Glenside and Outlook.

She was married to Rockne on May 5, 1962 and lived in various locations in Saskatchewan and Manitoba as she followed her husband to various construction projects, finally settling in Saskatoon in 1989.

Darlene’s children were very precious to her and, after many moves, she treasured the stability and security of her home. She enjoyed singing and gardening. She had a heart for the poor and for the country of Israel, giving generously to both. Because of her many health issues and restrictions and being confined to her home, she devoted much of her time to prayer.

A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 11:00 am at Louise Ave Congregational Church, 1602 Louise Ave, Saskatoon, SK with interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Memorial donations can be made the the Myasthenia Gravis Society Of Canada, PO Box 101, Lindsay, ON, K9V 4R8.

Arrangements entrusted to Dalmeny Funeral Home 306-254-2022.
