DARCY JEROME SCHLOSSER

March 8, 1963 – September 15, 2023

It is with profound sadness that the family of Darcy Schlosser of Regina, SK announces his death on September 15, 2023. Darcy passed away peacefully at the Wascana Rehabilitation Center; the place he called home for several years at the age of 60 years old.

Darcy was born March 8, 1963 to Murray & Lorraine (Eckl) Schlosser in Cudworth, SK. He was raised on the family farm in Bruno, SK.

Darcy began his career in agriculture at Sask Wheat Pool at the age of 18 and had a long successful career at elevators across Saskatchewan. As a young man he also worked as an EMT in Spiritwood for a few years before starting his family. Darcy had a deep passion for people and community as evidenced by his years of dedicated volunteerism with many organizations such as Kinsmen, Telemiracle, Saskatchewan Roughriders, Agribition and many other community boards as well as being a volunteer firefighter in every community he lived in. In recent years Darcy acted as Chairman of the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre Board and advocated fiercely for his fellow residents.

Darcy had many friends and anyone that knew him always spoke highly of the kind man he was. Darcy was known for his “full of life” personality as well as “The Mayor, President and Judge of Wascana”. He was always the life of the room. Whether he was playing jokes or goofing around you could always count on having a good time if you were with him.

Darcy loved his children Bradley and Deanna. He was very proud of them. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and camping with them when they were younger. Darcy suffered from Guillain-Barre Syndrome at the young age of 51 years old which left him paralyzed from the waist down. Darcy quickly adapted to his new lifestyle in a motorized wheelchair. Darcy enjoyed his life to the fullest. He loved going to movies at the cinema with his two children and going out for suppers with his friends and family. Darcy loved to find ways to make life adventurous no matter who was by his side.

Darcy was one of a kind. He will be truly missed by all of the people whose lives he touched.

He will be truly missed and survived by: his children; Bradley and Deanna Schlosser; mother of his children Sherri Schlosser; and her two children Amber and Crystal Peters; his brother Darren (Donna) Schlosser, McKenzie, Tyler & Samantha; his nieces and nephews Crystal (Adam) Buckingham, Mandy (Jody) Jorgensen, Melinda (Matt) Paik, Jarrod (Heather) Hrebeniuk and his many great nieces and nephews.

Darcy was predeceased by his parents Murray Schlosser, Lorraine (Eckl) Schlosser, brother Earl Schlosser and nephew Tyler Schlosser.

Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday September 23, 2023, 2:00 pm at St. Bruno Roman Catholic Church, Bruno, SK. Arrangements entrusted to Dalmeny Funeral Home 306-254-2022.

I am so sorry for all your loss. Darcy was an amazing man and we had many adventures before and after GBS. Deanna and Bradley were the light of his life and he will be missed by many. Though our contact had been sporadic the last year, I have always held Darcy near and dear to my heart. He always had the time to chat and developed a great group of friends at Wascana. My sincere condolences.

Darcy’s kind and enthusiastic nature made him a valued friend. He was quick to offer help to others and always up for an adventure. He and Don went on numerous excursions and had many interesting, and sometimes awkward, experiences.

Darcy became an honorary family member. We had many meals together and he even participated in our family’s Christmas gift exchanges.

He will be profoundly missed and we will cherish the time we had with him.
