Aron Braun
March 19, 1930 – November 11, 2021
Surrounded by family, Aron Braun, our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle and Friend passed away peacefully on November 11, 2021 at 11:00 am.
He will be forever cherished and remembered by his wife of 66 years, Betty; daughter Candy; son Cal (wife Vala); his grandchildren Chris (Julia) and Ryan; and former daughter-in-law Shelley (Tom) Hengen. Aron will be missed by his sister Margaret (Bill) Reddekopp and sister-in-law Mary (Jake) Braun as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Aron was predeceased by his parents John and Elizabeth; sisters, brothers and in-laws; Mary (Henry) Peters, Betty (Ben) Enns, Henry, John (Helen) (Betty), Bill (Catherine) and Jake.
His circle of influence was endless, his energy and enthusiasm infinite and his contribution to the lives of many, priceless. As a successful businessman, Aron had a wonderfully long career as one of Western Business Machine’s original owners until retiring in 1985. Aron was an active community supporter and gave his time to many organizations including Bowling leagues, the Saskatchewan Abilities Council, and the Canadian Cancer Society. At the young age of 47, Aron represented Saskatchewan at the Canadian Games for the Physically Disabled in Edmonton, winning gold in volleyball and bronze in rifle shooting. Aron spent countless hours at the ball diamond and the game of baseball was his passion and that passion has been passed on to his children and grandchildren. Aron is a proud Honorary Life Member of the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame, who was inducted in 2012 as a Builder and in 2017 received the Baseball Sask Lifetime Achievement Award. Aron was also a member of the Lou Slotsve Baseball Umpire Mentorship Program.
In 2006 the City of Saskatoon and CTV selected Aron as one of Saskatoon’s “100 People 100 Reasons”. A city centennial honour given to one hundred people who have made Saskatoon a better place to live. At the age of 89, Aron dusted off his acting skills and starred in a movie drama now streaming in Canada.
This gentle man truly lived life to it’s fullest. We must also extend a sincere thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and staff at Samaritan Place for their compassionate and loving care of Aron during his time there. A Celebration of his life will be held in the spring of 2022 once everyone is able to travel again – date & time TBD. You are in my Heart, prayers and memories, my very best wishes for all of you, in the future..
Aron was a kind, gentle man. I was lucky to known him, from the days, when he worked on my sewing machine at “necchi’s” on 33rd and then becoming part of our extended “shirt tail” family. I appreciated him very much!!

Candy, I am so very sorry for you and your family. I remember Aron as a loving and generous man with an incredible sense of humour. He was truly, one of a kind.
During our lifetime we are fortunate to meet special people that leave a real impact on you. Aaron was one of those people. So very honoured to say Aaron was one of those people. At the end of the day, all we have left is memories. Thank you Aaron and Betty for being a part of so many good ones.

So sorry to hear of your loss Mrs. Braun, Candy and Cal. We all have had people in our lives who have influenced us to some degree and one of mine was Aron Braun. Whether it be him teaching us how to dress sharp in our Oriole uniforms, or which two fingers to hold up when screaming how many gone and him convincing us to get down behind the ball “because it won’t hurt”. Baseball lessons to a 10 year old that turned into much more for decades after. R.I.P Mr. Braun
Spinal Cord Injury Saskatchewan extends sincere sympathy to family and friends of Aron. We fondly remember and most appreciated Aron’s volunteer photography services at our events, as well his happy presence at the office and visits with our staff and clients. Rest well, dear Aron.
The phrase “a sparkle in his eye” was never more apt than when applied to Aron. And a laugh was always waiting to burst out. Aron found the secret of joy and shared it with us. We are forever blessed.
