Chad Crawford

December 28, 1991 – July 20, 2021

Chad Crawford passed away in Lloydminster Alberta on Tuesday July 20, 2021 at the age of 29. Chad was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on December 28, 1991. He attended school in Dalmeny other than his later high school years when he moved to Prince Albert to play AAA Midget hockey and then Lloydminster for his 1st year of junior hockey. After graduation he continued his junior hockey career in Lloydminster and Bonnyville Alberta. Chad attended Lakeland College in Lloydminster and obtained his Journeymen’s Certificate in Gas Fitting. He was presently employed by the County of Vermilion. Chad loved playing a variety of sports but hockey was his first love.  He spent hours playing on the rink in the backyard and helped his Dad flood and scrape the outdoor rink all winter long in Dalmeny. He became a solid Colorado Avalanche fan at an early age and was sure they could go all the way this past season. Chad also was an assistant coach with an AAA Bantam Team in Lloydminster for three years. Chad was also an avid dog lover and was thrilled when his billet homes had pets. He was so pleased when he got his little pup Bauer and every yard he entered to check on a gas meter he made friends with their dogs. Chad was a genuine friend to so many and will be deeply missed.

Chad is survived by his parents, Glenn and Barb Crawford, his sister Allyce Brown (Lance) nephews, Tate, Amos and Nash Brown,  partner Larissa Scott and grandmother Phyllis Crawford. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents Bill and Marge Braun and Jim Crawford, uncle Dale Crawford, and cousin Chris Bourque.

Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 10:45am, all are welcome to meet at the front gates and drive in procession to the graveside. A Celebration of Chad’s Life will be held on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, 2:00 p.m. at Dalmeny Community Church, 121 4th St, Dalmeny, SK.

Arrangements entrusted to Dalmeny Funeral Home. 306-254-2022.

My heart breaks for all who loved Chad. He touched many with his giant smile and genuine care. I had the honour of being his hairdresser out of my home for 10 years. No matter what he was going through his true essence always shone through around my kids. He always asked about me and made sure to connect with each of the kids and pets on every visit. Sending so much love and wishing peace for you all.

There can be no anguish greater than a parent losing their child, and it is hard to grasp that Chad is gone. Knowing him since he was a toddler, we remember his big smile, with a hockey stick in his hand, and a kind heart that extended to everyone. Chad was a dear friend to our son from day care days to adulthood and his beautiful soul will be kept in our memories forever.

Glenn, Barb, Allyce and Family; We are so very heart broken for you in your loss of a precious son Chad. Although we never got to know Chad as much as we would have liked to, we will remember your son with his wonderful smile as the young man that was so caring. Wished there was some way to take away your pain and suffering but sadly know there is not. We are holding you close in our prayers and thoughts. Our world may have lost a young man in Chad but Heaven has gained a wonderful young man for their hockey team.

Chad played for the Bobcats when I worked for the team. He was always super happy, had a genuine smile on his face and an infectious personality. He will be missed, he did a lot for our community.

Keep comfort in the memories, and I am very sorry for your loss.

I’m so sorry Glen, Barb and Alyssa. I will never forget Chady. I will always remember babysitting Chad and Alyssa. Chad’s adorable cheeks and the day Barb told me about Chad asking if he’d ever have cheeks like other people, him barking at our dog Gypsy whenever she barked (which we all know was annoying lol) or the countless hours I’d hear him out on the ice shooting the puck. He was such a wonderful boy and although I never knew him as an adult, I know he was also a wonderful man. I have always found such solace in this quote. I hope you do as well. “Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give but cannot. All of that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go”.

Dear Barbie, Glen, Allyce and family: I just watched Chad’s Service in Dalmaney.
I didn’t get to meet your beautiful, big, handsome Boy but Uncle Bill and Aunt Marg spoke of him with warm hearts and pride. I share in your grief, as I too, had to grieve after loosing my 28 year son Sean suddenly.
Shock and disbelief are overwhelming. Take comfort in those the love and care about you.
Sending this message with loving thoughts.
