Michelle Alayne Wolfe
December 11, 1981 – June 8, 2020
Michelle Alayne was born to Phil & Becky Loewen on December 11, 1981 at City Hospital in Saskatoon. She was the oldest of four children for Phil & Becky. She was also blessed to have both sets of grandparents and many aunts, uncles & cousins to love her as she grew up.
When Michelle was 4 years old, her family moved to the Waldheim community. She attended K – Grade 12 at Waldheim school. Following high school, she attended Bethany Bible College for two years.
Michelle worked at numerous places during the course of her lifetime. Her first experience was helping her mom cater – I’m not sure if that was always a joy for her but she learned many good skills. Following Bible School, Michelle worked at numerous jobs including Menno Homes which later became Christian Horizons, & Salem Church. Michelle’s final job was in the office at Christian Horizons and she enjoyed the work there.
Michelle was diagnosed with epilepsy during her Grade 5 school year. She struggled with seizures. It was difficult to overcome the stigma that came with that type of condition – it was not easy for her peers to understand. Seeing it from this side now, these struggles are likely what God used to develop her tender heart towards those that were marginalized. Michelle had a sincere love for others and made many treasured relationships. She had a gift for caring for others.
Some of the things that were dear to Michelle’s heart during her growing up years were:
- The opportunities she had to be part of the Camp Oshkidee family. She was able to attend with her family of origin, Aiden and later Barry & Amara.
- Michelle was also an integral part of caring for the foster children that were part of her parents home. She loved children.
- Michelle loved singing. Her earliest songs in public were at the age of 2 1/2 at her grandparents 25th wedding anniversary. She also recited Psalm 23.
Michelle loved Jesus and came to know Him at an early age. She was baptized on May 26, 1996 in the Waldheim MB Church.
Michelle’s son, Aiden was born to her September 28, 2005. He was such a gift and they shared a very special bond as for several years, it was just the two of them.
Michelle & Barry met for the first time in November of 2009. Michelle spoke later of how God spoke to her when Barry first entered her house telling Michelle that he would be the man she would marry. He was right. Michelle & Barry were married September 4, 2010 on her family farmyard. Michelle was so excited that her beautiful son now had a daddy and they could be a family. Aiden was legally adopted by Barry on December 20, 2018.
Amara was welcomed into the family September 22, 2011. Michelle loved her children deeply, never ceasing to pray for them.
Married life was not always easy for Barry & Michelle in the early years. In 2017, Michelle & Barry attended a Hope Encounters weekend for which they were sponsored to go. The weekend was a God intervened transformation. The marriage began anew with a better understanding of 100/100 philosophy – giving all of one’s self for God’s will for your spouse.
Michelle cherished the love she was able to share with Aiden & Amara. They desired more children but a procedure had already been done. Michelle & Barry committed to prayer for the ability to have another child. After a couple years of no answer, God gave an answer as a miracle and Michelle was pregnant again. First shock, but soon giddy excitement came knowing that a baby girl was expected. Michelle loved rubbing her belly and was so excited to meet their miracle baby. Michelle was not able to hold her baby on an earthly timeline but is now in Glory with her miracle girl Tylea, wrapped in the arms of our Saviour.
On the evening of Sunday, June 7th, Michelle experienced severe medical distress with no previous warning signs. She was rushed to RUH by ambulance and during transit suffered from cardiac arrest. Immediately upon arrival at the hospital, Tylea was delivered by an emergency C-section. She did not live. The team of medical professionals worked tirelessly on Michelle but at approximately 1:04 a.m. on Monday, June 8th, Michelle passed away with her husband, parents & siblings near.
As a family, we would like to express our deep appreciation for the staff in the emergency at RUH for their compassion to the family during this time.
Michelle will be greatly missed by her husband Barry Wolfe, her children: Aiden & Amara Wolfe. Parents: Becky Loewen, Philip (Holly) Loewen. Siblings: Bryan (Cindy) Loewen & Terri (Ryan) Epp. Grandmother: Edna Goertzen. Parents in law: Peter Wolfe & Helen Wolfe and their children: Sharon (Tim), Pete (Cindy), Rob (Emily), Rick, as well as numerous nieces & nephews, aunts, uncles & cousins.
Michelle was predeceased by her brother Benjamin James Loewen (stillborn) and grandparents Walter Goertzen and Jacob & Marie Loewen.
A private family and invitation only viewing will take place on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Dalmeny Funeral Home, 135 3rd Street, Dalmeny SK.
A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Salem Church in Waldheim, Saskatchewan and is by invite only (these invites will be sent out from the family). The MB Church in Waldheim will be hosting 100 people to view the service via livestream. Social distancing regulations still need to be adhered to. If you did not receive an invitation to the main service at Salem, you are welcome to attend at MB.
Memorial donations can be made to Hope Encounters International, P.O. Box 22019, Saskatoon, SK S7H 5P1 or to https://www.gofundme.com/f/wolfe-family-support-fund.
Arrangements entrusted to Stefan & Katrina Funk – DALMENY FUNERAL HOME 306-254-2022.

Dear Barry, Aiden & Amara,
I’m so sorry for your loss. Michelle was a gentle soul, so full of love and compassion. She was always so proud of all of you, She was loved by everyone at work, our staff all adores her & our customers loved her. Just like everyone did who got a chance to know her. I am blessed for the time I got to know her, and so very devastated by her absence. I hope & pray the deep love she had for each of you will one day bring some comfort. Michelle truly made the world a better place.
Michelle had such a gentle, kind spirit. Such a lovely lady!! We are so sad with you. May God be your strength, comfort, and hope. May today be a celebration of her life and impact. May God also comfort you as you think of Tylea and what you had hoped would be. We are praying for you.
Thankful to have shared the service online with you. In the words of Elizabeth Eliot: “ you are loved with an everlasting love, thats what the Bible says…And underneath are the everlasting arms.” Praying for you. Aching with you. Loving you.
We are praying for you and will continue to do so each day. Aiden, Kent is especially praying for you. He is praying that God will give you strength, peace, comfort and hope.
So sorry to all the family!! Our love and prayers are with you during this difficult time!!
It is my hope that you find comfort in the fact that God has a plan for all of us, and it’s not always easy to understand why things happen when they do, but God is good and he has two more beautiful people sitting with him now, waiting for the rest of us believers when it’s our time!

My prayers and condolences to the family for this tragic loss of Michelle and baby Tylea.
May God, our counsellor and comforter be with you all.
I heard of this tragedy briefly when it happened last year. But last night I found this obituary and couldn’t stop crying. My mom, Olga Friesen, was friends with Becky‘s mom, Edna Goertzen in Dalmeny. I went to high school with Becky. Becky, I am so sorry for all of your losses and struggles in life. May God comfort you even now as you continue your journey of grief and sorrow. My mom and I continue to pray for all of the family affected, from big to small. Psalm 61:2 ‘… when my heart is overwhelmed, need me to the Rock that is higher than I.’
