Violet Gossen

July 22, 1925 – May 31, 2020

Violet Gossen, 94, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, went to be with her Lord on May 31, 2020.

Born on July 22, 1925, Violet was the daughter of John and Stella Harder of Fairholm, SK, where she grew up with her two brothers, Alvin (deceased) and Lloyd. Violet later attended Hepburn High School and Bethany Bible School in Hepburn, where she met Henry Gossen. They were married on November 2, 1947, in Fairholm and were happily married for 56 years until Henry’s passing in 2003.

After a brief time in Saskatoon, they settled in Hepburn, where they lived for 45 years. After Henry became Hepburn’s postmaster, Violet became Assistant Postmaster, a role she held until 1962. Later she served as Hepburn Village Secretary for 25 years. After retirement, Henry and Vi enjoyed travel, spending many winters in Brownsville, TX, traveling across Canada and the U.S. and visiting Kenya.

Violet had a deep faith and was active in the Hepburn MB Church throughout her time there. She was especially involved in music, singing in choirs, and serving a variety of seniors homes and other groups as a member of a trio for many years.

Although she was active in her church and the community, Violet was quiet and purposeful and is remembered by her family for her steadfast commitment to them, for her homemaking skills, and her love of reading.  She was loved by everyone for her faithfulness, integrity, and dedication to serving others.

Violet is survived by her children Richard (Joyce), Gary, and Lois Litz, her grandchildren Jeff (Yasuyo) Gossen, Allan (Kristin) Gossen, Sara Litz, and Rachel Litz, and great-grandchildren Karina, Tegan, and Emmett. She is predeceased by her husband Henry, and son-in-law Reg Litz.

A Memorial Service will be planned later in the year. Arrangements entrusted to DALMENY FUNERAL HOME 306-254-2022.

    To Vi’s family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this sorrowful time.
I remember your mom most from the ‘Rooke’ playing days, those evenings at each couples home were always such fun and I so enjoyed being included. Your mom was always a friendly and gracious lady , easy to like and visit with.
I know you will miss her .

    Rick, Gary and Lois
I am so sorry to hear your mom passed away. I remember her well. Aunt Vi was always friendly and gracious. Unfortunately we all grow up, leave home and lose touch. I had not seen her in many years. May God comfort you as you mourn her passing.
