For close to a century, our story at Dalmeny Funeral Home has been a place where families find comfort, guidance, and compassionate care in their most difficult moments.
Our story began in the 1920s when Abraham Funk became a funeral director, answering a calling to serve others with dignity and respect. After a brief time in Mennon, Saskatchewan, he then moved the business to Dalmeny, where the funeral home is located today.
In the 1950s, Abraham and Justina’s son, Clarence Funk, continued that tradition, dedicating himself to supporting families through loss. That dedication was carried forward once again in 1981 when Gerald Funk joined his father. Alongside his wife Jenny, they spent 31 years serving the surrounding communities with kindness and professionalism, ensuring that every family received the care and guidance they needed.
Today, the fourth generation of the Funk family continues to honor this tradition. In 2005, Gerald’s youngest son, Stefan Funk, became a licensed funeral director, embalmer, and preneed agent. In 2012, he and his wife Katrina took ownership of Dalmeny Funeral Home, ensuring that families continue to receive the compassionate service they deserve. Katrina then became a licensed funeral director in 2018, further strengthening the family’s commitment to serving others.
As a family-owned funeral home—not part of a corporate chain—we understand the importance of personal, meaningful service without pressure sales.
