Lorenz Strauch
May 26, 1939 – April 2, 2022
Lorenz went into the loving arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at the age of 82 years old. He was predeceased by his parents, Gustav and Gertrude Strauch; his brother Kenneth Strauch; his brother-in-law Terry Cashin and his loving wife, Audrey Strauch.
He will be deeply missed by his son Nolan Strauch of Saskatoon, Sk.; his son Arlen (Lisa) Strauch of Roswell, ID, and their children Nicholas Strauch of Ontario, OR., Marcy Strauch of Ontario, OR., and Jason Strauch of Saskatoon, Sk; also his daughter, Cindy (Darwin) Daae of Torquay, SK. and their children Keith and Andrew Daae. He leaves behind his brother, Harold (Marg) Strauch, and sister, Eileen Cashin.
Lorenz was born in Gravelbourg, Sk. on May 26, 1939. He was the second oldest of four children. Lorenz grew up in a farming family near Shamrock, Sk., where he learned the value of hard work. He enjoyed both inside and outside jobs. He helped his mother with cooking, cleaning and gardening until his younger sister was old enough to help. Lorenz enjoyed milking cows, baling hay and all farm jobs. He attended Boling Broke School from grade one to nine. In 1959, he left the farm and started working in Moose jaw. His early jobs were in mechanics, construction and maintenance. Lorenz attended Millar Memorial Bible Institute in 1961-1965. There he met the love of his life, Audrey. Lorenz and Audrey were married in 1965 and made Moose Jaw their home. They had three children, Nolan, Arlen and Cindy. Lorenz worked for the T. Eaton Company in delivery. They eventually made their way to Saskatoon where Lorenz was a farm hand. They moved into the city when their house was finished and Lorenz worked for the University of Saskatchewan as a herdsman in the sheep department. He took a short leave and worked as a janitor for the City Police for 5 years. He returned to work at U of S farm where he retired in 1998. Lorenz took pride in his work as a provider for his family.
Lorenz was a Mr. Fix-it. He always had a vegetable garden or two or three. He loved to putter and do odd jobs. After retirement, he took up guitar; he loved to sing and play, and would often sing in church. Lorenz was very handy in the kitchen, and Audrey often referred to him as the “chief cook and bottle washer.” He eventually took over the cooking, which he enjoyed thoroughly. Manitou beach was a special place for Lorenz and Audrey. They bought a cabin in 1995 and together transformed it into a summer home. The cabin was a special place for family and friends to visit.
Lorenz was a loving husband, father and grandpa. He showed his love and servant heart in tangible ways by serving others.
1 Thessalonians 4: 11 “and to aspire to live quietly, and to mind you own affairs, and to work with your hands…” Colossians 3: 23, 24 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
