Elizabeth Brown
March 19, 1928 – December 26, 2021
Elizabeth (Loeppky) Brown passed quietly into God’s presence on December 26th, 2021. She was born into a large family on March 19, 1928, and lived on a farm at Wymark for her first year. The next spring they moved to Eyebrow and later to Parkerview in 1934. The trip to Parkerview, along with two other families, was quite the procession with each family having two hay wagons, carrying belongings and animals, including chickens, pigs, and calves, as well as cows and horses. When they arrived in Parkerview they were greeted with lots of grass and trees but not any buildings. They “camped” until a one room house could be built. Life was challenging and everyone had to help in any way they could. Mom had lots of memories of milking cows, carrying pails of water, planting and canning vegetables and washing clothes in a wash basin. She attended Chislehurst School from Grades 1 – 8. There wasn’t enough money for everyone to go to high school, but later she was thrilled to attend Rosthern Bible College. She married Ben at the age of 19 in 1947. Together they worked on their own farm in Parkerview. In 1958 they bought a new farm close to Foam Lake which had several amenities like electricity, a refrigerator and a telephone. Four children joined the family, Betty, Ruth, Rita and Elmer who soon learned to join in the work. In 1963 dad and mom purchased a car and made a trip to BC which mom called her honeymoon. Mom was always ready to go on a family trip, to BC, Alberta, Hamilton, Washington, Arizona, NFLD, Alaska, and the Black Hills. Traveling by bus, or with one of their children made the trip so much more enjoyable. Grandchildren were a special treasure to her. She loved playing games with them and watching their sports. Their visits always brightened her day even if it meant meeting them outside the Villa or seeing them through the window during the long days of Covid restrictions. She also enjoyed her Villa family and never missed a games night with them. Liz graciously shared her home and cooking with friends, family, guest Pastors or anyone new in church. Even in the hospital, she was concerned that she needed to get up and prepare food because people would be coming. Mom enjoyed good health throughout her life. These last few weeks at the hospital were unfamiliar territory. But even then, she strongly clasped our hands enduring several days and nights of laboured breathing. Mom cherished her Bible and could often be found reading it. She began her faith journey through the guidance of her parents, and made her own decision to follow God when she was 14. It was her desire to live a life that glorified her Savior.
Liz was predeceased by her husband, Ben Brown, and her entire family, often saying how much she missed them. Parents: Frank and Anna Loeppky; brothers: George (Margaret), Frank, John (Tina), and Jake (Valerie); sisters: Anna Loeppky, Anne Dyck, Sue Wiebe. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her children Betty Poettcker (Jacob), Ruth Ostapowich (Denver), Rita Friesen (Cameron), Elmer Brown (Maureen Morson), grandchildren: Darcy Poettcker, Renee Peters (Collin), Clinton Poettcker (Melissa), Desiree Pankratz (Kyle), Tayler Ostapowich (Laura), Jaden Ostapowich (Joelle), Mitchell Friesen, Julene Hillis (Kit), Kenzie Friesen, Lance Brown (Allyce), Regan Brown (Lindy), Shanelle Plett (Brady); Great grandchildren: Ava, Zachary, Kade, Anna, Jakob, Declan, Maya, Blakely, Averie, Tate, Amos, Nash, Blair. Also four sisters-in-law: Frieda Loeppky, Anne Brown, Anne Brown, Mary Penner, and brother-in-law, Henry Dyck(Margaret). We would like to thank the nursing staff and doctors of St. Paul’s Hospital for their compassionate care of mom in her final weeks.
The Memorial Service will take place at the Dalmeny Bible Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 31, 2021.

We were one of those “visiting Pastors” who were privileged to be recipients of your parents hospitality. It was so nice to have a home away from home on our visits to Foam Lake – we knew exactly which our bedroom would be. Your parents were a great blessing to us and to the church. You gave your Mom a wonderful send-off. It was a lovely service and comforting to see the pictures of her and your dad from their Parkerview years and the more recent times. Your parents were part of my childhood. I was one of the flower girls at their wedding and was happy to see the picture with me in it, as I had not seen it before. Your Dad was a leader in singing in our very small congregation, till they moved to Foam Lake. I also have a cradle that your Grandma and Grandpa gave to me after your Mom and sisters outgrew playing with it. It is a treasure! If you want a picture I will be happy to send you one.
