Ryan Van Ee
December 24, 1987 – October 8, 2021
Ryan Van Ee was born on December 24, 1987. He grew up on a farm just outside of Saskatoon. Ryan was an inquisitive, quiet, and meticulous little boy who loved to read, build, and fix things. These attributes continued to flourish as he grew into a young man.
Ryan studied to become a mechanical engineer, and graduated with great distinction. During university Ryan met his wife SonJa, who he married a year later. They went on to have 3 children, Noah, Olive, and Clayson. Ten months after their third child was born Ryan started to have pain in his abdomen. After 9 months of trying to figure out what was going on he was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. Ryan’s battle with cancer lasted just over 2 years.
His family is greatly saddened by the huge loss they feel. He is survived by his wife SonJa; his 3 children Noah, Olive, and Clayson; parents Henry and Carolyn; siblings Katrina (Stefan), Crystal (Jeremy), Amanda (Myron), and Aaron (Ariel); father-in-law Gerald; mother-in-law Luise; brother-in-law Salton (Christa) and sister-in-law Sara-Jane (Evan); as well as his grandmother Mina Van Ee; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Even though Ryan’s death feels like it came earlier than he or anyone would have wished, he trusted the Lord’s will and understanding. At the end of his life Ryan said, “I want to be here on earth to spend time with you (SonJa) and the kids, and my family and your family, but there is something I want more. To be in heaven with Jesus forever, building a house. The grandest house anyone has ever seen. Because there I will be able to. That’s what I want.” -Ryan Van Ee
Donations in memory of Ryan can be made to Camp Oshkidee, 830 Kloppenburg Court, Saskatoon, SK S7W 0P3. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Grove Community Church, 502 Webster Street, Saskatoon, SK. The service will have ASL interpretation.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ryan’s sister and brother-in-law Katrina & Stefan Funk at Dalmeny Funeral Home 306-254-2022.

I had the privilege, as Ryan’s school principal, of watching Ryan become a good young man and an even better husband, father and son. Throughout those years Ryan was consistently thoughtful, gentle, determined and faithful to his Saviour and to his family. What a courageous battle he fought with cancer and having fought the good fight is now rewarded with the wonderful eternal joys of heaven. My prayers are with the VanEe family.
