Stanley Ross Waldner

January 20, 1944 – August 21, 2021

Stanley Ross Waldner passed away peacefully at the age of 77, in Langham, SK, on Saturday, August 21st, 2021. He was reunited with his father Peter, mother Barbara, brother Percy, and sister-in-law Frieda. Left to cherish his memory are his brother Leslie, niece Corinne, nephews Trevor (Karen), Jason (Chrystal), and his very special nieces and nephew, Lauren, Avery, and Jacob.

Stan was born on January 20th, 1944. He grew up on the family farm by Langham, SK. He lived and breathed farming. When he turned 14, he began working for his Uncle Paul seeding in the Spring and harvesting in the Fall. He would spend his Winters hunting, skiing and staying active. At the age of 17 he began his 19-year career with the RM. He became very efficient at building roads and driving the grader. In 1980, he took over his Uncle Paul’s farm. During the off-season he kept busy driving truck for Helmer Epp, and later, working for Knibbs Fertilizer. Some of his happiest days were spent behind the wheel of the tractor, and he continued to farm the land until his health began to fail in 2019.

One of Stan’s greatest joys was the cabin at Delaronde Lake. Stan and his brother Percy built the cabin in 1977, and the addition later in 1998. Stan would spend most of his free time at the lake fishing, snowmobiling, hunting, and spending time with family and friends. He adored his nieces and nephews and would stock the cabin each Spring with their favourite foods. He would look forward to every project that they worked on together, whether it was building the garage, laying new sod, or shingling the roof.  He taught all of the kids how to fish and beamed with pride each time they caught one. One of Stan’s most prized possessions was a 19 lb jack fish he caught, which still hangs on the wall of the cabin today.

Stan will always be remembered for his innovative mind; he was always ten steps ahead of everyone else. He had the ability to fix or build absolutely anything. His memory was extraordinary, he could tell you what crop was planted on which field and what the yield was for any given year. Above all else, he will be remembered for his heart of gold. He would drop what he was doig in an instant to help his family and friends when they were in need. In October 2019, Stan moved into The Langham Care Home, where his little brother Leslie was living. He managed to get a room right next door to him, and the brothers were able to spend a lot of quality time together before Stan’s passing. The family would like to thank the staff at the Langham Care Home. It was a comfort to know that Stan was so well cared for during his final days.

Viewing for family and friends will be held at the Dalmeny Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 25th, 2021 at 7:30pm. The Celebration of Life Service will take place at the Langham Community Hall on Thursday, August 26th, 2021 at 2:00pm. Interment to follow at the Langham Cemetery.

Donations in Stan’s name may be made to The Canadian Diabetes Association, or The Langham Care Home (140 Main St. East, Langham, SK, S0K 2L0).

Arrangements entrusted to Dalmeny Funeral Home 306-254-2022.
