Bill Braun

August 12, 1925 – September 22, 2019

Bill Braun passed away peacefully at Luther Special Care Home in Saskatoon on Sunday, September 22, 2019.

Dad was born on August 12, 1925 on the family farm near Osler, Saskatchewan.  His early years were spent learning to farm and this became his life’s work.  He married Marge Dyck on October 7, 1949 and they farmed together for 26 years, raising beef, pigs, chickens, milking cows and growing grain.  In winter dad would plow yards and driveways for neighbours.  He was an avid curler and golfer.

Dad was always available to help out a neighbor, and served on many committees and boards.  He and mom enjoyed entertaining friends on the farm, in their home in Saskatoon, and at the cabin.

Bill is survived by his daughters, Diana (Ben) Buhler, Deb (Wayne) Storozuk, Barb (Glenn) Crawford;  grandchildren, Scott (Candice) Buhler, Sean (Ashley) Buhler, Chelsea (Justin) Meyers, Jessica (Jamie) Siemens, Allyce (Lance) Brown, Chad Crawford; great grandchildren, Brady Buhler, Cheyenne Buhler, Keeley Buhler, Adriah Buhler, Morgan Buhler, Seth Buhler, Layla Buhler, Sadie Meyers, Jake Meyers, Lewis Siemens, Tate Brown, Amos Brown, Nash Brown; in-laws, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by Marge, his wife of 68 years, his mother, Sarah (Kasdorf) Braun and father, Jacob P. Braun.  Also by brothers, Jake, Pete, Ike, John, George, sister, Sadie Fedrau, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

There will be a time for viewing on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. at Dalmeny Funeral Home in Dalmeny. A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Osler Mennonite Church in Osler.

We wish to thank the staff of Luther Special Care Home for their compassion, caring and friendship to dad and our family.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Luther Special Care Home, 1212 Osler Street, Saskatoon, SK S7N 0T9.

Diana, Deb, Barb and families, We are very saddened to hear of the passing of Bill. Although it had been a few years since we last saw him, our family from the west is always on our minds. Our thoughts and Prayers are with all of you at this very difficult time.

To Bill’s Girls and their Families – I know this must be hard on all of you at this time, my Sympathies go out to all of you. I have the fondest memories of Uncle Bill and of Aunt Marg.
They were very special to me. I had a good talk with Uncle Bill very recently. We loved to talk
about Golf and he usually called after a big golf tournament.
He had a good life and has left behind a wonderful, beautiful big family to carry on.
Loads of love and hugs – Sharon
