Frieda Janzen

February 4, 1943 – April 13, 2026

Frieda M. Janzen passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Monday, April 13, 2026, at the age of 83.

Frieda was born February 4, 1943, in Hepburn, Sk., to Henry and Nettie Voth. She was the third of five children born into this loving family. Growing up and working on the family farm is undoubtedly where she developed her strong work ethic. Long days of farm work, gardening, and countless hours spent preserving the harvest from the annual garden were just a few of Frieda’s “hobbies”.

Frieda, after graduating high school, travelled to British Columbia and worked in a care home for people with special needs. Eventually she returned to Hepburn and began working at a local store. It was while working at the store in Hepburn, that she caught the eye of a handsome, young man, Harvey Janzen. They were married on February 24, 1967, and to this union four children added to complete their family. Frieda and Harvey started their strong partnership farming at Waldheim, Sk. All their children became farm hands and were taught proper work ethic at an early age. In her later years she also kept busy for numerous years working at Shepherd’s Villa working with adults that had intellectual disabilities.

Frieda had a great appreciation for of God’s creations and loved spending time outdoors, especially camping and fishing with Harvey and their children. In her later years, she continued this tradition with Kenton at Delaronde Lake, where she earned the nickname “master angler” for often out catching her companions. Frieda always cherished her time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. Being someone who could not sit still for long, she would spend countless hours creating cross-stitch, knitting, and diamond art pieces which were treasured gifts she lovingly shared with her family. She encouraged her children to work hard and do their best, always ready to lift them up, dust them off, and inspire them to keep moving forward. One of Mom’s ways to show love was to cook and bake, Frieda especially enjoyed preparing holiday meals for large family gatherings. Her philosophy was simple: it was better to have too much food than not enough. She always ensured her guests were fed first and was always the last to sit down and eat. Frieda appreciated the time that she was able to spend with her friends. Enjoying many hours with her circle of friends in Saskatoon. When she moved to Pineview Manor, it did not take her long to find a new group of friends. She valued the evening gatherings at Pineview Manor, which sometimes went on a bit long, though she would happily do it all again for the next occasion.  From the moment she arrived, Pineview Manor felt like home to her.

A radiant soul has returned to Heaven, yet her warmth and light continue to live on in all those she touched. She will be deeply missed by her family: Karen (Kim), Kaitlyn, and Karson; Kenton (Rosemary); Cecil (Tracy), Carter, Brooke (fiancé Chris), and Nelson; Hector (Shannon), Justus (Tina), and Huxley, Shayley, and Lexyss. She was cherished and will be fondly remembered by her siblings: Clara Voth; Ruby (Orville) Schultz and family; and Ron (Susan) Voth and family.  With love, she will be remembered by her dear in-laws: Irene Thiessen and family; Lorena Janzen and family; and Salley Peters and family.

Frieda was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harvey; her parents, Henry and Nettie Voth; her brother, Art Voth; her parents-in-law, Curt and Tillie Janzen; and her brothers-in-law, Stan Janzen, “Wimp” Wilmer Janzen, Ruben Peters, and Pete Thiessen, as well as other family members.
