Gilbert Schultz
March 25, 1935 – January 18, 2026
Gilbert passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, SK.
Gilbert Lloyd Schultz was born on March 25, 1935 at home on the farm by Langham, SK. He was the second child born and the only son to Sam and Susie Schultz.
Dad attended Riverbank School until Grade 8 and then he was needed on the farm. Dad worked hard on the farm picking all those rocks – an endless job. He helped his dad working on the dairy farm and working the fields. He enjoyed the farming life but it was very hard work. He commented that Arlene and him worked very hard outside and Betty and Carol had it easy with only helping in the house.
Dad accepted the Lord as his Savior at the age of 18 and that same year he was baptised at Borden Bridge along with Mom and his sisters.
Dad met Doreen (Mom) when they were teenagers and were married on May 10, 1954. They were blessed with three children: Sheryl, Duane and Janelle. In 1954, Dad started working at Robin Hood. He worked there until the early 1970’s when he left to farm full-time.
After a few years of living in Saskatoon, Dad & Mom settled in Dalmeny where they raised their family. Dad served as an usher for many years and also as a board elder at Dalmeny Bible Church.
Dad was known for being very outgoing, fun-loving and loved to visit with people. He loved going for coffee in the mornings with the guys.
Dad and Mom did a lot of travelling all over the world, but Dad was always anxious to get back because he missed the grandkids. He enjoyed watching the grandkids at their sporting events.
Dad loved watching and playing hockey, curling, boating-fishing, hunting and most of all snowmobiling with his family and friends. Dad had a need for speed – driving his vehicles or racing his snowmobiles at the Waldheim racetrack. Dad participated in the tractor pulls at the Saskatoon Exhibition for many years and brought home many trophies. Most important to dad was his faith in Jesus Christ. He witnessed to others as he felt led by the Lord.
On December 6, 2025, Dad went into St Paul’s Hospital with congestive heart failure and passed away on January 18, 2026, to be with his Lord and Savior. The family would sincerely like to thank the nurses and doctors at St. Paul’s Hospital that took care of dad for his last days here on earth.
Dad is predeceased by his wife Doreen, sister Arlene, daughter-in-law Jean and grandson Del.
Dad will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by:
Daughter- Sheryl (Dale) Epp, grandchildren Jason, Brendan (Stacey), great grandchildren- Jenaya, Shalayna and Braden.

Many memories with Gilbert, from Snow Trek trips when he won all the races on his Mach Z and even flew the air once, landing without a scratch, the snowmobile did not fair so we’ll though. Also lots of morning Breakfast stories and laughs at the Dalmeny Restaurant when I was visiting with my father in law Pete. Condolences to the family, going to miss Gilbert’s smile and stories.
My thoughts & prayers are with you during this time. Gilbert & Doreen both were very special people, I always enjoyed a quick visit when we met in the coffee shop, or when they visited so faithfully with my parents. As I am out of country -I Won’t be able to attend funeral. I know you have wonderful memories & stories to help thru the tears. May the Lord give you peace & strength.

Thinking of you Janelle.
I always enjoyed stopping and talking with Gilbert. He would often pass by my acreage on his way to do some farming, which he loved so much. Often he would stop if I was along the road cutting grass and we would chat and the chats were always very positive. Will miss those times.
Our condolences to Gilbert’s family. He was an amazing man and will truly be missed,
