Elizabeth “Betty” Martens
May 11, 1926 – November 11, 2025
Elizabeth “Betty” Martens (nee Bartsch) was born on May 11, 1926, in Hochfeld, Saskatchewan, to Peter and Aganetha Bartsch. She passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025, at the age of 99.
On November 25, 1945, Betty married the love of her life Isaac Martens. Together they built a wonderful life and were blessed with five sons: Bill (Linda), Ernie (Dorothy), Wally (Gerry), Jerry (Lynn), and Ken.
Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her faith and her family were the heart of her life. She was an active member of her church and gave generously of her time, volunteering with the Mennonite Clothes Closet and many other church and community organizations.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sons; grandchildren Jim, Candace, Brad (Michelle), Matthew (Kaitlin), Chad (Amber), Jackie (Kenny), Ryan (Julia) and Venessa (Steve); and great-grandchildren Kirsten, Nathan, Matthew, Max, Sam, Madden, Mason, Cooper, Emma, Shayn, and Henry.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Isaac, all her siblings, her daughter-in-law Linda, and her grandson Dean.
Her kindness, faith and gentle spirit touched many lives and will be cherished always.
The Funeral will take place on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Church, 315 Lenore Drive, Saskatoon, SK.
