Kathryn Elaine Doell

February 13, 1952 – September 14, 2025

It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Kathryn Elaine Doell (Belton) on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, SK, surrounded by her family.

She will be forever remembered and cherished by her husband Larry; her sons Kent (Angela) their children, Brooklyn and Owen; and Keith (Cari) their children, Lucas and Hanna. Kathy also leaves behind her brother Gordon (Carol) Belton, her sister Louise (Bruce) Jackson, countless nieces, nephews and all her loving friends. She is predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Marguerite Belton.

Kathy was born on February 13, 1952, to Clifford and Marguerite Belton. She grew up on the family farm outside Saskatoon before beginning her own life with her beloved husband, Larry John Doell, whom she married on May 31, 1975. Together, they built a home filled with love, family, and devotion.

Kathy dedicated over 40 years of her life working at Royal University Hospital, as an office clerk. Beyond her work, her greatest joy was her family and beloved horses. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, auntie and friend.

Kathy had a deep love for the outdoors and for any event that included horses. She was honest, fun-loving, and often found herself the brunt of a joke—but she never minded, because she knew she was surrounded by people who loved her. Her laughter was infectious, and her ability to join in on the fun created countless warm memories. Forever friends will think of Kathy with smiles on their faces, remembering and cherishing the time spent with her.

Kathy’s strength, kindness, and joyful spirit leave behind a legacy of love and laughter that will continue to live on in all who knew her. As we all know Kathy loved her wranglers so please wear your Best Wranglers to celebrate the life of an amazing woman.

  1. It’s unimaginable that such sad news can bring back so many great memories of time spent with such a genuine and down to earth person as Kathy. I have so many great memories sharing the love of horses and family. I am so very sorry for your loss and wish to both the Doell and Belton families peace and comfort in the love you all shared. 💔

  2. Kath we had so many laughs in years past, trips to Cypress hills were always better when you were there. You somehow always had just the right emergency “thingy”to pull neatly wrapped out of your pocket lol! Team penning together was always a blast.. your reining accomplishments on top of that were so admirable.
For someone with a seemingly quiet demeanour and teeny weeny physique .. you could be a real bad ass (in such a wonderful way!)
You will be missed by all that knew you..
Keep chasing cattle, and nailing sliding stops.. flags up cowgirl😘

  3. It is with a very heavy heart that I heard of Kathy’s passing on September 15. She and I worked alongside each other in Pediatrics for 12 years. We shared many laughs but also some sad and stressful life events. I was amazed at what a trooper she was – forging through snowstorms and bad highway conditions in the winter to make sure she never missed a work day. She struggled with many health issues but always just took it all in stride and never once complained when she wasn’t feeling well. I do know she loved her horses and her time spent with like friends out on the farm. I’m so much going to miss our phone calls but it helps a bit to know she’s no longer struggling and in pain. I send my condolence and sympathy to Larry and sons Kent and Keith and their families. In closing – I also remember one of her very favourite songs – “Cowgirls don’t cry” by Brooks and Dunn – I’ll be playing that song now in your memory, Kathy. Rest in peace, dear friend xo

  4. Thank you, Kathy, for everything you did for our Department (of Pediatrics) and Hospital over your many years working at RUH. My sincerest sympathies to both the Doell and Belton families.

  5. I was shocked to hear of Kathy’s passing. I worked in an office near Kathy’s and as part of a pediatric group, we often had lunch together. She would also stop by my office to say hi or ask a question and we often had a few good laughs. She was a wonderful person who was kind, considerate and non judgmental. A great lady who passed too soon. My deepest condolences to her family and may many great memories help during this difficult time.
