Margaret (Banman) Janzen

October 19, 1933 – October 26, 2022

It is with deep sadness that the family of Margaret (Banman) Janzen of Warman, SK, announce her peaceful passing on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at the age of 89 years.

Margaret was born on October 20, 1933 at her parents home in Kronsthal, SK.  She was the 5th of 12 children born to her parents Isaac & Sarah (Friesen) Banman.  As a young girl she attended Saskatchewan and East Osler Schools.  Margaret was baptized upon confession of her faith in  the Kronsthal Old Colony Mennonite Church on June 3, 1952 by Rev. Abram Loewen.  She was married to Jacob Janzen on July 27, 1952 at her parents home.  Together they shared life’s joys and sorrows for 55 years, raising a family of 6 children.

Margaret had the gift of hospitality, she loved to bake and cook and was a generous host to family, friends and strangers.  Their door was always open to anyone needing a meal or a place to stay.  The visits were full of lively conversation, activities and more food.  She had a sharp mind and wit and could recall events from the past in a clear and precise way, in either English or Low German.  Margaret experienced many health problems throughout her life but it was her faith and hope in God that sustained and strengthened her during these times.  She was a faithful member of the Old Colony Mennonite Church which she supported until the end.

Margaret leaves to mourn her passing her 6 children:

To Mrs Jansens family. When I think of your mom I think of when our families first met when you moved down Luthern Road. I remember mom and dad and some of us stopping in when your basement was being dug. Seems like our families hit it off right away. We had many memorable times over those years getting together. Your mom was a great cook and we were always welcome there. It was always loud full of conversations and laughter. Our parents and yours are having a great time together once again. Praying for peace and comfort to all of you ❤️❤️

Our sincere sympathies to all of the families! We were so blessed to have met you all when you moved to the farm near us! I’m so glad we got to share so may good times together when we were young and as the years took us in all different directions we still remained close!!
Friendships that have endured the test of time. Our greatest joy is that we will see her again one day!
