Carla Joan Roppel
February 27, 1951 – September 11, 2022
It is with great sorrow that we share the passing of Carla, mother, sister, Auntie, Grandma and friend, all who have loved her dearly. Carla was born in 1951 in Edmonton, Alberta to parents Larry and Louise Odegard. Carla fought her battle with cancer like a true warrior and hero, touching the hearts of all who knew her!
Carla spent her childhood years in Cold Lake, Alberta. After graduating high school, she spent the next 10 years trying on careers in healthcare, marriage which produced her loving son Shane, and farming where she discovered her passion for Agriculture. This passion led Carla to complete her Bachelors Degree in Agriculture at the University of Alberta, and her Masters, with specialization in Soil Sciences, at the University of Saskatchewan. Her education led to her work with Oxfam, Global Agriculture and the National Farmer’s Union. Carla also had an insatiable love for music, singing, poetry, writing and reading.
Carla is predeceased by her parents, beloved spouse Naomi and youngest sister Lori. She leaves her loving son Shane (Marthe) granddaughters Anna and Maggie, her stepdaughter Tammy, her siblings Janice, Russell (Lina), Neil (Dee), James (Lorraine), Soren (Marni), Paul, Patrick (Terry), as well as her extended family and friends who meant so much to her over the years.
A Service will be held for Carla on Friday, September 16th, 2022 at Grace-Westminster United Church, 505, 10th Street E, Saskatoon at 9:30 am. A private family interment will follow at St. John’s Columbarium.

Carla , you were a beautiful, generous and warm spirit. We loved you and will miss you and your fabulous voice. As we had spoken about, I pray that Naomi was there to greet you. We pray for your family and friends, may they be buoyed up in their grief by special memories of you.
