Sara (Waldner) Hanson

September 2, 1934 – Carcajou, Alberta – August 29, 2022 – Okotoks, Alberta

Sara Hanson age 87, went to her heavenly home on August 29, 2022, peacefully in her sleep. Her passing was very unexpected. She was the second child of the late Frank and Mary Martens. They moved from Carcajou to Saskatchewan where she met and married Ed Waldner in June 1956.  They had one daughter Terri Lynn.  Sara retired from a long career in accounting in the oil and gas industry to take care of Ed during illness before his passing in 1992. In 1995 she married Ernest Hanson and together they served in the Baptist Ministry for a number of years. They enjoyed travelling including a driving trip across Canada, up to Alaska and  numerous trips to Phoenix, Arizona. Sara was very generous and loving person who thought of others before herself. She was a great prayer warrior and enjoyed volunteering. She spent her last years living at Sandstone Manor Lodge in Okotoks, Alberta and we are grateful for their care.

Sara is survived by her daughter Terri Lynn and her son-in-law Terry Humphries; 5 grandchildren – Jennifer; Terry Jordan; Josh (Jena); Joel (Jenna); Jeffrey (Destiny).  As well as 5 great-grandchildren –  Cadence, Rome, Reign; Blake; and Avery; her brother Henry of Salmon Arm BC; her brother Ben of Stavely, Alberta; her sister Martha of Elmira, Ontario and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Mary Martens; her husband Ed Waldner in 1992; her husband Ernest Hanson in 2013; her brother-in-law David Ghent; her brother Dick Martens; her sister Esther Froese; her sister-in-law Francis Martens; her sister-in-law Kelly Martens; her nephew Lloyd Martens and her step-son Don Hanson.

A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Emmanuel Country Church in Saskatchewan.  Take highway 16 from Saskatoon toward Langham, turn left on Lutheran Road, then left on Range Road 3071. Interment to follow.
