Betty Kologie-Braun

August 25, 1933 – July 14, 2022

Betty Kologie Braun, our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and Friend passed away peacefully on July 14, 2022 at 2:22 am.  She will be forever cherished and remembered by daughter Candy, son Cal (wife Vala); her grandsons Chris (Julia), Ryan; and former daughter-in-law Shelley Hengen.  Betty will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  Betty was predeceased by her loving husband of 66 years, Aron,  her parents Julian and Anne Kologie; sisters; Nellie (Bob) Cooke, Marie (Peter) Wall, Rose (Earl) Mangus, Jean (Bob) Owen, Peggy (Walter) Latowski, Olga (Reverend Don) Jessop, Helen (Tom) Russell, Isabelle (Tootsie) (Art) Walmsley, and brother Wes Kologie.

Betty was born in Vonda, Sask and moved to Warman with her Dad and siblings in 1934 as her Dad was the Section Foreman for CN Railway.  Betty met and married Aron in 1955 in Saskatoon.

As a young lady, Betty worked at Empire Meat and Black’s Jeweler in Saskatoon before her and Aron married and had the twins (Calman and Candy).  Betty stayed at home to raise their children until they were in high school and then worked as a medical secretary until she retired in 1981.

Betty and Aron enjoyed bowling at Rak’s Bowladrome (5 pin) for many years and were the Hosts for the Alberta Team during the 1971 Western Canadian Championships in Saskatoon.  Betty fell in love with the game of baseball when Aron started coaching and Cal started playing.  Aron taught her how to keep score and she was at every ball game and tournament.  In the early years, you could say she was the “Manager” of the Orioles.

After being away from baseball for many years, Betty enjoyed watching her grandson Ryan play baseball and was very proud to watch him throughout his baseball career.

Betty enjoyed the game of football by watching Cal and Chris in their high school years.  She became a Saskatoon Hilltop fan when Chris played on the team and enjoyed watching the Saskatchewan Roughriders on TV.

Betty enjoyed her hugs and when she saw you, she always had a hug for you.  She touched many lives by her generosity and will be sadly missed by all.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and staff at Samaritan Place for their compassionate and loving care of Betty during her time there.  A Celebration of her Life will be held in the Fall of 2022 – date and time TBD.  If so desired, donations may be made “In Memory of Betty Kologie-Braun” to Samaritan Place, 375 Cornish Road, Saskatoon, SK, S7T 0P3 or the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Dalmeny Funeral Home 306-254-2022.
