Margaret Gertrude (Krell) Schroeder passed away December 18, 2025. She was born on August 28, 1926, to David & Katie Krell on the family farm at Lockwood, Sk. She was the 8th of 12 children with 5 older brother 3 older sisters and 3 younger sisters. They were a hardworking, fun loving, happy family. After grade 8 mom had to stay home and help look after the household duties because her mom was not well.

Daily bible reading, Sunday School and church were regular occurrences in the Krell home. It was in her teen years that mom made the personal decision to accept the forgiveness that Christ offered and asked Him to be her personal Savior. She was baptized on June 10, 1945.

On October 12, 1949, Margaret married Ernest Schroeder and they were blessed with two children, Norman in 1952 and Joyce in 1953.

Margaret’s working career began in 1959 at the Nokomis Union Hospital as the assistant cook and she later became a nurses aid. When a moved took them to Lanigan in 1968 she continued to work in the hospital there as the director of housekeeping and laundry. In 1976 when they moved to Saskatoon and she worked as the Housekeeping/laundry supervisor at Central Haven Personal Care Home until her retirement in 1992.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband Ernie in 2006 and her son Norman in 2020 as well as her parents and all of her siblings and their spouses.

She is survived by her daughter Joyce & Gerald Voth and their children Jennifer (Ian) Isaak & Marcus, & Ryan Voth. Daughter in law Jacqueline Schroeder and her children Crystal (Joe) Roberts; Angelique (Kent) Favelle & Caim; Darcy (Rykki Daneliuk) Schroeder Alesya & Kyanna. Her sister-in-law Helen & Ed Lord and numerous nieces and nephews.

A public viewing will take place at 10:30 a.m. and the Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at West Portal Church, 3134 33rd Street West, Saskatoon. To watch the live stream please click on the link below.

  1. Auntie Margaret was a marvellously faithful sister and aunt. Her consistent presence in my mom’s (Esther) life and encouragement in mine was not only a blessing but something we relied on. Knowing she was lifting our names and family members up in prayer to the Lord brought comfort her faith was obvious to see. She is greatly missed and her absence will be felt for a long while. Condolences to the family doesn’t quite capture the depth of loss that will be felt. Knowing auntie Margaret was ready for Heaven helps.

  2. My heartfelt condolences to you and yours.
    I have fond memories of the summer my sister and I spent before the wedding of Leo and Rita (1970). Auntie Margaret was wonderful and spent time with me and made life during a transition more bearable. Oh. sorry about your tea set! I pray for the comfort and strength of the Holy Spirit be with you
