Abraham Friesen

Abraham Friesen

December 16, 1943 – October 17, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Abraham Friesen, who went to be with his Lord and Saviour on October 17, 2025, while at the family farm. He was born on December 16, 1943, in Aberdeen, Saskatchewan.

Abe was a lifelong farmer whose favourite time of year was harvest, when he could be found on his beloved Massey Ferguson 550 combine. In later years, he rented out the farmland but continued to visit often, always sitting in “his spot” at the table overlooking the pasture and fields. It was only fitting that his final moments were spent there, at peace on the farm he loved so dearly.

Abe married Agnes Friesen (Janzen), with whom he shared many happy years of marriage until her passing in June 1992. In 1996, he married Mary Neudorf of La Crete, Alberta, and together they continued to make their home on the farm before eventually moving to Osler.

He leaves behind his loving wife Mary, five children, Darrel (Martha) Friesen, Murray Friesen, Rod (Lisa) Friesen, Rhonda (Dale) Neufeld, Rena (Nathan) Noble and two step-children, Sheldon (Marge) Kroeker and Shawana (Scott) Hildebrandt. He is also remembered by his numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Kathy (John) Dyck, Betty Ginther, and Mary (Glen) Peters as well as several in-laws. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter H. and Katherina (Neufeld) Friesen, his first wife Agnes, and brothers Jacob, Henry, Peter, John, David, sister Helen Wiebe and many in-laws.

A public viewing will take place at Dalmeny Funeral Home on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Bergthaler Mennonite Church in Warman. To watch the live stream please click on the link below.
