Agatha Penner

November 13, 1932 – October 9, 2025

Agatha was born to Jacob & Maria (Guenther) Penner on November 13, 1932.  She is the second child out of seven. Agatha was the oldest remaining cousin up to this date.

Agatha was pre-deceased by her parents, Jacob & Maria Penner, as well as Jacob’s second wife Helena (Banman) Penner, sisters Mary & Lena, brothers Jacob, Isaak & Peter, also her in-laws Nick Peters, Peter Hiebert & Sarah (Bergen) Penner, as well as several stepbrothers & sisters. She leaves behind one remaining brother, William Penner, her sister-in-law Agnus (Neufelt) Penner, sister-in-law Betty (Wiebe) Penner, sister-in-law Anne (Plett) Penner, as well as several stepbrothers & sisters. Agatha is well loved by her nieces & nephews as well.

Agatha grew up in the Wingard area, close to the river.  Her mom passed away in 1952 when Agatha was only 20 yrs old. Agatha never married or had any children of her own. She spent lots of time with her nieces & nephews’ families all her life. 

Agatha worked for most of her life at St. Paul’s Hospital and retired after 27 yrs of work.  She retired on May 31, 1993.  Agatha loved going on bus tours to many locations with her friends, as well as with her sister Mary after Nick passed away.  After retiring, Agatha enjoyed volunteering at the MCC with her sister-in-law Anne Penner, embroidery, music, going walks to the mall & visiting with family & friends. In her younger yrs, she even joined a bowling league.

Agatha’s love for Christ was always strong.  She went to First Mennonite Church for many years till she started struggling with getting around. Her favorite song in her older yrs was Got Es Die Liebe. For the pass 30+ years, Agatha has lived at Bethany Manor, where she lived until she was hospitalized on August 18, 2025.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Dalmeny Funeral Home, 139 3rd Street, Dalmeny, SK.  Burial to follow at Reifertal Cemetery. To watch the live stream please click on the link below.

  1. Agatha lived next to my parents at Bethany Villa. We called each other, sister.. i continued to visit Agatha after my parents passed away. She loved to sing hymns and pray with me. She would always say,”You know I will tell you something very important, Gott ist die liebe’”. She was always telling people about her Savour, Jesus! How she loved Jesus! Her greatest desire was for God to take her home to Jesus. Now she is there, worshiping Him face to face. I am so grateful for the example of her faith.
