Murray Peters
May 5, 1955 – July 16, 2025
Murray Peters passed away peacefully at RUH, surrounded by his family, on July 16, 2025, following a brief battle with cancer.
Murray will be forever missed by his wife, Denise; his three daughters: Lisa (Darren) Tew, Michelle (David) White, and Kimberly (Brad) Rudd; and his four grandsons: Carson, Tyler, Aksel, and Anders. He is also deeply mourned by his sisters Arlene (Rueben) Loewen, Lee (Carl) Boehr, Sharon (Larry) Eichendorf, and Elaine (Vern) Mierau, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father Jacob Peters, mother Anne Peters, and sister Merna Peters.
Murray was born during a snowstorm on May 5, 1955, in Saskatoon, to Anne and Jacob Peters. He married the love of his life, Denise, and together they took over the family farm near Langham, where they raised their children. Murray and Denise recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Murray grew up with five sisters and later became the proud father of three strong-willed daughters. He embraced his role as a “girl dad” wholeheartedly, and was eventually thrilled to welcome three sons-in-law — and finally, four grandsons. He especially loved being a grandpa and was incredibly proud of his grandsons. He often joked, “If I had known being a grandpa was this great, I would have done it first!” Murray took great pride in his family and cherished every opportunity to spend time together.
Murray led a busy and fulfilling life on the farm, dedicating himself to working the land — raising cattle and pigs, growing grain and hay — all while reliably driving the school bus for 34 years. He took great pride in hard work and had a knack for “farmer-fixing” just about anything. Over the years, he remained active in his community through church involvement, volunteer firefighting, curling, fastball, and working with Mierau Auctions — often bringing home treasures he just couldn’t resist! Murray especially cherished fishing trips and lake excursions with family and friends. More recently, the purchase of a cabin at Candle Lake became a beloved retreat — a place for the family to create lasting memories and a foundation for many more to come. He wanted so badly to have one last visit on that deck.
Murray truly enjoyed tootling around the countryside, visiting neighbors, and checking on the crops. He loved when people dropped by for coffee to catch up on their latest news or chat about the weather. He was recognized everywhere — no matter where you went, someone always knew him. As much as he was known for his great sense of humor, boisterous laugh, and commanding presence, he was equally known for his big heart and generosity. His legacy lives on in all who knew and loved him, and he will be dearly missed.
The family would like to thank the many staff members at RUH who worked so diligently to care for Murray during his three-month stay. Their kindness, professionalism, and genuine compassion for their patients was truly evident. There are some very special people we will never forget.
