Sandra Kilborn

Sandra Jane Kilborn (nee Summach)

With heavy hearts we announce our dear Sandra Kilborn passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 27, 2025, at the Palliative Unit at St. Paul’s Hospital.

Sandra was predeceased by her parents, Manley and Joyce Summach, her brothers Kim Summach and Danny Summach, sister-in-law Connie Summach, and father-in law Terry Kilborn.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband Dave Kilborn; daughter Mary Kilborn; son Michael Kilborn, sister-in-law Marian Summach; brother Monty Summach (Moira); brother Kirk Summach; sister Janice Carbno (Rhett); mother-in-law Grace Kilborn; sister-in-law Pamela Brierley (Owen); sister-in-law Charlene Logan (Steve); sister-in-law Teresa Kilborn; nephew Jared Summach (Alicia); nephew Ryan Summach (Sarah); niece Allison Forrest (Nigel); nephew Taylor Summach (Emily); nephew Dale Summach; niece Lydia Webber (Brandon); nephew Kyle Stoudt; nephew Ian Summach (Jordan); niece Stephanie Summach; nephew Alex Logan; nephew Aaron Kapler (Clarissa); niece Naomi Brierley; nephew Syd Logan; niece Molly Brierley; nephew Sam Logan and nephew Zach Logan.

Sandra was born in Saskatoon on March 16, 1960, and resided in Asquith until the family moved to Saskatoon a few years later.  After graduating from high school, she attended Baptist Leadership Training School in Calgary and later obtained her Legal Assistant Diploma from Saskatoon Business College.  She moved to Vancouver in search of work in 1989 and worked in various roles at Medical Services Association.  She met David in 1992 and they became fast friends.  After marrying in 1994, Sandra and Dave moved back to Saskatoon in 1996.  Daughter Mary was born in 1997, and son Michael was born in 1999.  Sandra became a stay-at-home mom until the kids were in school and then worked part time at the Saskatchewan Prevention Institute until she retired in 2017.

Sandra enjoyed Ballroom and Latin dancing, having taken lessons at Arthur Murray in the 1980s and later passed on her skills teaching dance classes.

She was also a talented artist and enjoyed painting and working with pastels.  After taking a few weekend classes with Gail Adams, Sandra really worked on her craft and created many wonderful works of art, including her favourite portrait of her beloved dog, Pixie.

Sandra also loved dogs, but her favourites were poodles, in no small part, because they are hypoallergenic.  She had two poodles in her younger years, Sam and Nipper.  She finally convinced Dave to get a couple poodles, Pixie and Boo, and they were both by her side at every opportunity.  After losing both, she couldn’t be without, so they found Nemo and brought him home in February of 2024.  Nemo was able to visit her a lot in the Palliative Unit and it brought her joy to see him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Erindale Alliance Church, 310 Perehudoff Cres, Saskatoon, SK on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. To watch the live stream please click on the link below.

    Dave, Mary, and Michael,

I am so sorry to learn of Sandra’s passing. I worked with Sandra at the Prevention Institute and valued her work ethic and enjoyed her wry sense of humour. It was always clear that she loved her family with all her heart. Unfortunately, I will be unable to attend the service but Sandra and the three of you will be in my thoughts. Noreen Agrey

I am sorry I won’t be able to attend Sandra’s funeral on Sunday but my thoughts will be with all of you on this day. I had the privilege of working with Sandra for many years at the Saskatchewan Prevention Institute. I loved her sense of humour and we often shared stories of our families and life in general. She displayed many of her art pieces at work in her office and I would bug her that one day I would take the painting of her dog because that was one of my favourites. She was very talented. She will be missed.
