Edwin Goshagar

May 19, 1962 – May 25, 2025

Edwin Frank Goshagar was born to Edwin Paul & Harriet Eunice Goshagar in Saskatoon on May 19^th 1962. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 25, 2025.

Some of his first jobs were at The Bay delivery furniture and Canadian Linen. He worked for 40 years cooking in different restaurants in Saskatoon. John’s Prime Rib was his longest cooking position. He enjoyed preparing food for others. It brought him great joy to see people enjoy the food he made. It was important to him to work hard to provide for his family.

Cheryl invited Ed to a Thanksgiving service at the Gospel Church in Hepburn, in 1984. Pastor David Rempel said at the end of the service: If anyone wanted to speak with him  about becoming a Christian, they could come talk to him. Ed decided to speak with Pastor David Rempel, and said a prayer to receive Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Life had many ups and downs in his journey with the Lord. February 25, 1997, Ed’s Dad died and at that time, he said he felt very alone. Ed reached out to Pastor Kelly from the West Portal Church in Saskatoon. Pastor Kelly shared these encouraging verses with Ed: Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” II Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away: behold, all things are become new.” Ed chose to be baptised in 1997 at West Portal Church.

On July 20^th of 1985, Ed and Cheryl were married. They joyously welcomed three children into their family; on August 6, 1986, a son was born, Emil Edwin, on September 29, 1987, a son, Keith Travis was born, on June 21, 1990 a daughter was born, Megan Heather.

His favourite pastime was fishing. He also enjoyed the outdoors, camping, sitting by the fire, going to the mountains, and lounging in the Radium Hot Springs with his family. He preferred cold weather over hot weather.

A joyful time in their lives was when they became grandparents to two granddaughters; Brianna Jade (April 3, 2007) and Melanie Rose (June 11, 2009). The girls called them Papa and Gramma. They brought smiles to his face and you could see the love he had for those 2 beautiful girls.

In 2021, Ed suffered from a heart attack, leading to open heart surgery. He never had the strength to return back to work due to his health, which was difficult for him. Over the last two years, it was very obvious that he was struggling on a more regular basis until his passing on Sunday, May 25, 2025. 

Ed is predeceased by his Mom, Harriet (Fiddler) Goshagar, his Dad, Edwin Goshagar, an infant brother, Roderick Goshagar, brother-in-law, Emil Amendt, nephew, Henry Amendt.

Ed is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Cheryl (Amendt), and his son and daughter-in-law, Emil & Christina (Brett & Karissa), son, Keith Goshagar & Daniel Byers, daughter, Megan Goshagar, granddaughters, Brianna Goshagar & Melanie Stewart, and his wife’s parents, Emil & Edna Amendt.

Ed is also survived by his brother, Ray Goshagar, sisters-in-law, Barbara (Gary) Ginther, Deborah (Gerald) Hamm, and brother-in-laws, Trever (Cyndi) Amendt, Glen (Angela) Amendt, Gregery (Amanda) Amendt, Cory (Kathi) Amendt. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

You will be fondly remembered and missed. You are deeply loved.
