Gregory James Harbidge

April 9, 1958 – May 12, 2025

It is with great sadness that the family of Gregory James Harbidge announce his peaceful passing at home on May 12th, 2025, following a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Born on April 9th, 1958, in Shaunavon, Greg lived a full and vibrant life defined by deep love for his family, a passion for sports, and an adventurous spirit. He began his career at Budget Rent a Car as a car washer, working his way up to general manager and eventually becoming part of the ownership group. His dedication, business acumen, and tireless work ethic were hallmarks of his professional journey.

Greg’s heart, however, belonged to his family. He is survived by his loving wife Kami, and his cherished children: Madison, Jordan (Adree), Brett (Jillian), Matt (Meagan), and his dog Jersey. He was a proud grandfather to Jaxson, Ryan, Rayelle, Casey, and Kyren, and found immense joy in every moment spent with them. He also leaves behind his beloved mother Pat, siblings Don (Fen), Rick (Deanna), Kevin, and Laurie (Roy), Lisa, the mother of his three sons, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Greg was predeceased by his father, Ted Harbidge.

A true sports enthusiast, Greg was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan and had a well-known love for college basketball—especially his favorite team, the Indiana Hoosiers, and Duke, chosen specifically to keep a brotherly rivalry alive. His love of sports extended beyond fandom, as he dedicated many years to coaching community basketball and baseball and serving on the board of the Saskatoon Minor Basketball Association (SMBA). His contributions to grassroots sports in Saskatoon left a lasting legacy in the community.

Greg was a man who embraced life with humour and heart. His blunt sense of humour guaranteed laughter wherever he went. He loved music—particularly The Eagles—and was never shy about belting out tunes at karaoke. He was a fan of western movies, had a deep interest in history, and would often plan his travels around visiting museums. Greg was known to embark on spontaneous road trips across North America, often with no set plan—just a love for the open road and curiosity for the world around him.

A celebration of Greg’s life will be held on Friday, May 23rd at 1:00 PM at The Backyard (2426 Dudley St.). All who knew and loved Greg are welcome to join and share in honoring his memory. You are invited to wear your sports memorabilia or bright colours. To watch the live stream please click on the link below.
