
Jeanne Blackmon
October 7, 1946 – April 27, 2025
Nancy Jeanne Riley Blackmon departed from this world on the evening of April 27, 2025. The daughter of James Stewart Riley and Margaret Cansler Riley, she was born on October 7, 1946, and grew up in Texas. Her family settled in Houston in 1956 and Jeanne claimed that as her hometown. She graduated from Bellaire High School in 1964 and attended Baylor University from 1964-68 where she completed her degree in Elementary Education. While at Baylor Jeanne met Bill Blackmon and they married March 23, 1968. Jeanne & Bill lived in Ft Worth then moved to Lago Vista. While living and teaching in Lago Vista Jeanne completed her Kindergarten certification at the University of Texas Austin. During this time she and Bill became the parents of two wonderful sons, Braden (1974) and Bowman (1978). In 1982 Jeanne moved with her family to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, where she continued her teaching career and completed her graduate degree in Early Childhood Education. She retired from public school teaching in 2007. Jeanne’s love for and devotion to children was evident in her education career, her involvement in children’s programs at her churches, and her dedication to her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Jeanne loved helping and bringing joy to others. For several years she visited hospitals and elder care facilities dressed as a clown. She developed and maintained close relationships throughout her community and found the greatest joy in helping and bringing joy to others.
Jeanne is predeceased by her parents, James (2011) and Margaret (2020) Riley and is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bill Blackmon, her son, Braden and wife, Lindsay, her son Bowman, and her grandchildren, William and Xavier Blackmon, and Saraya, Olin and Kavin Stewart; her brother James S. Riley Jr. and wife Merrily of Houston, Texas, her brother Jay Riley and wife Ann of Bullard, Texas, her sister Jan Riley John and husband Peter of Oakland, California; her nieces and nephews – Carey Riley Hair and husband Rusty, James S. Riley III, Catherine Riley Buckles and husband Nathan, Melissa Riley, Jason Riley and wife Deida, Nathan John and wife Rachel Yanda, Brian John, and Andrew Trujillo- John and wife Arianna, Clint Parker and wife Rebecca, Joe Parker, Angel Everett and husband Kevin , Katy Vennis; her great-nieces and nephews Thomas, Amanda Margaret and Elaina Hair; Nadia, Eli and Gage Buckles; Isadora James and Jules Yanda-John, Annabelle and Kaden Everett.
We will have a celebration of life on Thursday, May 8, 2025, 10:30 a.m. at the Rock Church, 228 Ave G South, Saskatoon. Friends are invited to join the family at the funeral service and a luncheon to follow . After the luncheon friends and family are invited to join family for the interment at Martensville Cemetery.

Bill and family, I am sure that Jeanne’s promotion to heaven is bittersweet. She was a delightful bubbly person and I am sure she is enjoying herself in the heavenlies. I lost my husband Hal March 5 of this year; I understand too well the mixed emotions you feel.

Jeanne will be missed by those who knew and loved her. A woman devoted to God, family and her many friends. Her big Texan laugh and beautiful smile brought much joy to others. Jeanne you have ended your race well!!
