George Goetz

October 27, 1926 – April 10, 2025

George Goetz peacefully transitioned to be with his Lord and Savior on April 10, 2025, at the age of 98.  He was a devoted follower of Christ and has left behind a legacy of faith and love.  He was predeceased by his beloved wife Marjorie and infant daughter Brenda, as well as two granddaughters, Michelle and Janelle.  He will be deeply missed by his children: Barry (Ruth), Bonnie (Rod), Melody, Elwood (Doreen), his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

George was born in South Russia (presently Ukraine) to John and Aganetha Goetz.  His family fled civil unrest when he, their infant son, was old enough to make the trip to Canada.  He was raised on a family farm near Dalmeny and as a young adult completed his education to become a teacher, initially in a one room school house.  George accepted Jesus Christ into his life when he was 7 years old and his deep faith in Jesus Christ continued all his life.  He married Marjorie Goetz in 1950, and they were graced with 72 rich years of life together, enjoying a life helping others in a myriad of ways.  A High School Math teacher at WMCI, and faithful participant in church community, George loved the outdoors, and was an avid observer of bird and plant life, enjoying mountain hikes, horseback riding, downhill and cross country skiing, and long walks.  He especially loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, expressing his love both in words and in actions and it was always a priority for him to celebrate with them, help them, enjoy them and spend time with them.

The family would like to offer heartfelt thanks for the exceptional care offered by Kelvin Ohms, Director, and all staff at Diamond House (Warman), as well as Conrad Jantzen, Director, and all staff at Circle Drive Special Care Home (Saskatoon).

We rejoice in the promise of eternal life with our Lord Jesus Christ.  A Celebration of God’s faithfulness in George Goetz’s life will be held at Forest Grove Community Church on Monday, April 14, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. To watch the live stream please click on the link below.

I have memories of George’s dry wit! He was a pillar of what was then Nutana M. B. Church – and also my grade 12 algebra teacher. Our condolences to the family.
