Abram Hamm
April 8, 1943 – February 12, 2025
Our father, grandfather, and great grandfather Abram Hamm was born on April 8, 1943. He was the seventh child born to Henry and Maria Hamm. He grew up on the family farm east of Hague near the river.
Dad was a grade 12 graduate of Hague High School in 1965. Dad began his working career on dairy farms before deciding to pursue power line construction. He worked for Thompson Johnson and then went on to work for SaskPower for 40 years until retirement. Dad’s desire to remain busy led him to work for DC Trenchingfor another 3 years until he could no longer physically work.
Dad and Mom were introduced by their siblings Mike and Helen. They dated for 4 years and married on August 24, 1968,at the Rosthern Mennonite Church. They started their married life together in Saskatoon, then moved to Weyburn for a short time, and returned to Saskatoon. Together they found and purchased a house in Martensville where they resided for 53 years.
They were blessed with two children; Brenda (Tracy) Thibodeau; Cindy (Dave) Fehr; four grandchildren; Brent Fehr, Devin (Jasmine) Fehr, Jesse Thibodeau, Colby Fehr: two great grandchildren; Willow and Phoebe Fehr.
Dad was meticulous in every aspect. He was a hard worker and well known for his care and attention to his yard, vehicles, hair, and even his campsite.
Dad and Mom attended the Martensville Mission Church where Dad was baptized upon confession of his faith on July 28, 1991.
Dad and Mom enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Over the years they enjoyed gatherings, camping, fishing, going for coffee, and travelling with many family members and friends.
Dad was highly committed to his community and the growth of Martensville. He was part of the committee that planned and fundraised dollars for the first indoor arena. He enjoyed playing broom ball and curling in the new complex.
Dad was always very health conscious. He was active and healthy until he was diagnosed with Parkinsons which slowly took over his body functions. In 2022, due to this disease, we decided it was best for Dad and Mom to move into the North View Mennonite Haven in Warman where Dad could receive assisted care. Dads’ health continued to deteriorate, and it wasn’t long before he was moved into the Warman Mennonite Special Care Home where he could be cared for until his death. Dad died peacefully in his room at the care home with his family present.
Dad was predeceased by his parents Henry and Maria Hamm, his brother Michael Hamm, sisters Mary Dyck, Martha Fehr, Sarah Epp, his son Norbert Hamm, and numerous in-laws.
Dad leaves to mourn his wife, Nettie; his sisters Bertha Fehr, Elizabeth (Rueben) Derksen; his brothers, Phil (Helen) Hamm, Henry (Peggy Hamm), his children Brenda (Tracy) Thibodeau; Cindy (Dave) Fehr: grandchildren, Brent Fehr, Devin (Jasmine) Fehr, Jesse Thibodeau, Colby Fehr; great grandchildren, Willow and Phoebe Fehr; numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Our family wishes to express our gratitude to the Warman Mennonite Special Care Home for the excellent and compassionate care that Dad received.

Nettie, and family, we are saddened to hear of Abe’s passing. Abe was one the calmest, friendliest, and honest person I have met. He was hard working and very good at his job. He will be missed.
Abe is my cousin. I was a year older that he, and we were very close friends in school. Later, we built a house in Martensville, and Abe and his wife moved in a few doors down from us. Ruth and I send our deepest condolences to Phil’s family and siblings.
Nettie & family….we are so sad to hear of Abe’s passing…It is a pleasure to know you and your family and an absolute honour to have worked with Abe
Our deepest condolences to all the family. Always enjoyed talking with Abe.
Sincere condolences to Abe’s family. It was always a bright spot in the workday when Abe had a minute to stop in the office with paperwork. Wishing peaceful rest for a good man and great memories for his family.

We are so sorry to hear of Abe’s passing.
Our heartfelt thoughts are with you all.
The memories of stories shared over our backyard fence, in Martensville , are only warm and wonderful. We will always remember Abe for his neighborly acts of kindness, his friendly and pleasant nature, the pride he felt for his family, and his immaculate yard. A good man in so many ways.
