Gordon was born on May 23, 1957, in Saskatoon to Marcel and Eva Panchuk. As a young boy, Gordon could be found with a screwdriver taking every toy apart and following around his older sisters. As a high school student, Gordon began his passion for watching sports games and learned the art of calling the plays and knowing every strategy. This passion grew as a he became a young adult and began collecting jerseys to all his favourite teams. Gordon first met Julia while their families were visiting, and this soon turned into their first coffee date. Over the next two years their love grew and on August 19th, 1989, Gordon and Julia were married. The two honeymooned in Ontario where they visited Niagara Falls and attended a Toronto Maple Leaf’s game. At this game, Julia wore a treasured Gary Leeman jersey which was gifted to Gordon from Harold Ballard…and Julia still holds that jersey close to her heart. This lucky couple was blessed with their beautiful son Nolan on April 16, 1995, which was Easter Sunday.
As Nolan grew it became clear that he needed medical attention, and the Moose Jaw Shriners came to support the family. Through the continued support from the Shriners, the Panchuk’s flew to Montreal numerous times for surgeries and therapies to help their son learn to walk. Gordon later dedicated himself to the Shriners and joined the association because of his eternal gratefulness and admiration for the association.
Gordon worked in many medical facilities and ended his career at City Hospital where he worked for 35 years. Nolan, Gordon and Julia continued to attend sporting events together as a family and collect memorabilia from their favourite teams. Sport enthusiasts know that Gordon has the reputation as a walking sport encyclopedia, and Nolan has paid the highest compliment to his father as he has continued to collect and research various sporting teams.
