Charlie Amos Maahs

Charlie Amos Maahs

March 9, 2006 – August 24, 2024

Charlie Maahs, beloved son of Heath and Dianna Maahs and brother of Benjamin Maahs, passed away on August 24, 2024, at eighteen years of age. Charlie was born March 9, 2006, in Saskatoon and was raised in Dalmeny, and got his education in Dalmeny.

At the age of 12, Santa surprised him with a 50cc Yamaha dirtbike, so there he is on December 25th in the afternoon with no helmet, and icy streets and he was supposed to stay in the driveway, but ended up going up and down the street. This then led to a 125cc Suzuki dirt bike, and man did he drive it like he stole it.

Charlie was never afraid to help others out, and the dirtier he could get the better, whether it was at the farm helping Grandpa or if one of his friends needed help.

His fishing exploits were also very well known, as him and his dad would go fishing, and five minutes later his famous saying; “I got one”. And every fifteen minutes after that you heard, “I got one”.

Being a typical teenager, there were never any leftovers in the fridge, because someone always needed a late night snack, and one pickle in the pickle jar still counts as full.

Charlie loved playing football. He played two years with the Dalmeny team and his final year with Hague. He played defensive lineman and his job was to contain the quarterback.

Upon his graduation his word of wisdom was to make money, hang out with Ty, then make more money.

In grade 11 Charlie started working part-time for Corbeau Welding. Upon graduating high school, he then worked full time there and was learning how to weld. He said he learned responsibility and teamwork, and this added to his maturity.

A Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Dalmeny Bible Church, 406 Wakefield Ave, Dalmeny, SK.

Donations in memory of Charlie Maahs can be made to the Dalmeny & Hague High School Cougar/Panthers Football Team.  E-transfers can be sent to charliem.memorial@gmail.com or cash donations will also be accepted at the Memorial Service.  The monetary donations cannot be accepted directly through the high school so a family friend Jody Diehl, will be organizing the memorial donations. Charlie was truly such a great man, he was so sweet and never failed to make me smile. Such a loss to the community, his family and everyone he was friends with. Sure made some dumb decisions but he was such a loveable man and he will be heavily missed.
