Elizabeth “Betty” Unruh
September 25, 1937 – August 27, 2024
Elizabeth (Betty) Unruh passed away peacefully on August 27, 2024, at the age of 87. Betty was born to Jacob and Helen Reddekopp. She married Corney in 1960 and together they built a life together until Corney’s passing in 2010. Betty lived a wonderful life beyond the battles with her health. Her happiest days were when her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were by her side.
Left to cherish her memories are: her children Joan (Tim), Perry (Sandi), Freida (Kelly); her grandchildren, Alia (Tyson), Josh (Jordyn), Logan, Kelsey (Jon), Courtney; her great grandchildren, Londyn, Eden and Emma. Betty is also survived by her siblings, Mary, Ann (Manfred), John (Betty), Henry (Shirley), Sarah (Andrew), Helen, and numerous brother and sister in laws.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Parkridge Centre and the Dementia Care Unit for caring so deeply for mom and given her a beautiful place to pass away with grace. Special thanks to the Warman Mennonite Special Care Home for the care given to mom during her stay. The family also encourages everyone to take time to write a letter to their MLA and MP to express deepest concerns about the lack of specialized care for all forms of Dementia. Our Health Care system has failed the elderly in so many ways and it breaks our hearts to know that more of our loved ones will not get the care they deserve.
The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 2, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Old Colony Mennonite Church in Neuanlage, SK. Interment to follow at Reinfeld Bergthaler Mennonite Church Cemetery.
Arrangements in care of Dalmeny Funeral Home 306-254-2022.

Betty played a pivotal role in our lives after mom’s stroke led dad to build out on the farm and we instantly became neighbors with the Unruhs. Betty was our mom next door. Love to Joan, Perry and Freida.
Thank you Kelly for the kind words.

Sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. I remember all the good times we had as neighbour’s. We always looked forward to your mom’s baking. It was so good! Despite her dementia, she always gave me a smile and a little wave when she was in the home. Hugs to all of you,
