Marvel May Wenzel (Chappell)

Marvel May Wenzel (Chappell)

December 16, 1932 – June 13, 2024

Proverbs 31:25, Strength and Honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to Come.

Marvel May Wenzel was born December 16, 1932, to Thomas and Bessie Chappell of Langham Sk. The family later moved to the Margo area where Marvel and her sisters grew up.

After grade 10 the big city was calling her, and Marvel moved to Saskatoon where she attended Saskatoon Business College. This was the era she referred to as the good ol’ days. Marvel loved Saskatoon and often recalled memories of her time living at the Marr Residence, walking down Victoria bridge to get to work, and many dances at the Bessborough hotel.

Marvel worked at the Saskatoon Police Station where she met Roy Wenzel. They were married on August 15, 1957. They purchased their forever home on Ave P where they raised their four boys. Marvel and Roy enjoyed picking berries, looking for wildflowers and going out for drives in the country together.  They loved having their family fill the house on the holidays and summer gatherings in their beautiful backyard.

Her life came with many challenges, but she persevered with her quick wit and dedication to hard work. Her work ethic was second to none. She instilled this value in all her boys and later her grandchildren along with her sense of humor.

Marvel was often referred to as spicy – to say the least. Her laughter was contagious, and she had a comeback that often came with an eye roll for everything. She brought a laugh to so many with one of her quick-witted remarks. Even strangers who would catch one her lines as they were passing by would spin around with a big grin on their face.

Marvel was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Bessie Chappell, sisters Arlene Borkowsky and Joyce Printz, husband Roy Wenzel and great grandson Aiden.

She leaves behind 4 sons, Randy (Bonnie), Keray (Lee), Tracy (Raina) and Trevor (Deb) along with 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Marvel will be greatly missed but her strong beliefs in the values of family, hard work and laughter will never leave us.

A Graveside Service will take place on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 11:00 am at First Saskatchewan Lutheran Church, Langham, SK.

Arrangements are entrusted to Dalmeny Funeral Home 306-254-2022.
