Arthur Gordon Reimer
December 20, 1924 – June 5, 2024
It is with sadness but great joy that the family of Arthur Gordon Reimer announce his passing at Sherbrooke Community Centre, on June 5th, 2024, at 99 years of age. He was pre-deceased by his wife of 70 years, Erna (Dobsky); his parents, John and Mary Reimer; three siblings, Charlotte Friesen, Esther Goodwin, and Anne Ewald; grandchild Dean Reimer and son-in-law, Bill Macfarlane.
Art will be lovingly remembered by his four children, Karen Pottage, Becky Macfarlane, Garth Reimer, and Tim Reimer as well as 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is survived by four siblings, Vi Schroeder, Alice Smith, Arnold Reimer, and Don Reimer.
As a WWII veteran Arthur worked as an electrician on navy vessels during the war. He was a practical electrician, a welding and armature winding specialist, and held a variety of certificates, including a second-class station engineering certificate, and a millwright technical certificate. These, along with a variety of experiences enabled him to rise to supervisory positions in potash mines, flour mills and the Vancouver Wharves.
Art was very proud that he built 6 family homes. As well as fishing, golfing, curling and gardening, he enjoyed family camping trips, international travel and many winters with Erna as snowbirds. He was a practical hardworking man with a down-to-earth relationship with the Lord, his family and the church.
A family celebration of Art’s life will occur at a later date.
