Tina Buhler
October 19, 1932 – May 15, 2024
Tina Buhler was lovingly welcomed home into the Loving Arms of Jesus in the early morning dew of May 15, 2024.
Tina leaves behind a beautiful legacy, her loving son Garry (Alice), daughter Diane (Dave Greenhorn), Grandchildren: Garry Buhler Jr., Melanie (Dustin Maffin), Tim (Ann) Buhler, Jenn (Kevin Weber) Aimee (Gordon Thornhill), Daisy (Joshia Elfassy) Great-Grandchildren: McKenna/Irelynn Maffin; Olivia/Cohen Weber, Benoit Buhler.
Tina was born to Benard and Aganetha Schellenberg on October 19, 1932. She grew up in a loving Christian family of 12 on their farm near Aberdeen. Their parents taught them from a young age the importance in trusting and serving Jesus. She had many fond memories of people gathering to enjoy games, singing, ball games, food and fun with her brother and sisters on their farm.
Tina met the love of her life, David Buhler in her mid-20’s. They married on October 9, 1955. They welcomed Garry in 1957, Diane in 1961 and Kathleen was born in 1969 and passed away shortly after birth.
We have fond memories of traveling to BC and Manitoba to visit our relatives.
Our Mom was honoured to be called up to be a Pastor’s wife in 1968 walking along side our Dad spreading the love of Jesus and his kindness wherever she was needed in the Church. She grew a large garden and received great pride in sharing her produce with family and friends. Mom also loved to bake sugar cookies and was known for her famous “pink popcorn” that everyone always enjoyed.
After the children left home, Tina enjoyed camping in their motorhome with David, visiting with family and friends and trips to Hawaii. Tina was proud of her 19 years of volunteering at Palliative Care – St. Paul’s Hospital where she was often called “The Bread Lady”. In 1996, Tina was honoured to receive the Governor General Award of “Caring” which was presented to her by the Honourable Linda Haverstock.
Tina had the privilege of being co-founder of the “Food Grains Bank” Auction alongside David and best friends Corney and Ann Doerksen. She enjoyed watching the success of the sale due to the hard work of many volunteers for over 40 years.
Tina’s greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Up until her last day, she faithfully followed their activities and supported them in any way she could.
We are so honoured to be able to call Tina Buhler our Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma. From the day each one of us was born, she has been our Prayor Warrior praying without ceasing for our salvation, health, protection, and wellness. We will miss her so dearly.
Tina called Sunnyside Nursing Home her home for this past year. Our family would like to extend a HUGE thank you to the AMAZING staff for all of their wonderful care, and attention you gave our mom. Also, to all the Residents who quickly became her friend, thank you for the joy you always brough her. It was such a wonderful experience for her and we thank you for that.
