Neil Unruh
January 18, 1939 – February 18, 2024
Cornelious Unruh, always called Neil, went home to be with God on Sunday, February 18, 2024.
Neil was born on January 18, 1939, and raised on a dairy farm in Sumas Valley B.C. Neil met Marilyn Kraft in the fall of 1958, and they married the following April. He was saved and called to the ministry early in his married life. With his dad’s blessing and the dairy farm sold, they headed off to Regina with three children in tow to Canadian Bible College. His ministry spanned over 60 years in 11 communities. His longest ministry was during his “retirement” at Dore Lake. He earned his Masters of Theology in 1983.
Neil is survived by his wife Marilyn and their 5 girls, Wendy (Vern), Joy (Armin), Sherry (David), Karen (Graham) and Stella (Todd). He was blessed with 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Stella, Betty, Laura, and Tina. Neil was predeceased by his parents Cornelius and Marie Unruh, his sister Ann, and his great grandson Kevin.
The story of Neil’s life is a love story. Foremost he was passionate about serving God and sharing the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. He was a man of prayer and prayed on his knees for his family every day. This was one way he showed his deep love for his wife and family. He was not only a fisher of men but an avid sport fisherman as well. He taught each of grandchildren to fish and how to hang on when he yelled “lines in”.
The Celebration of Neil Unruh’s life will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Dalmeny Funeral Home, at 139 3rd Street, Dalmeny, Saskatchewan. To watch the live stream please click on the link below.

My deepest sympathy ! I have such fond memories of our times we spent together as a family when Dad and Mom Unruh were alive. The Unruh family taught my mom rook and she never played cards before.Cherish your memories and may God’s love surround you and bring you comfort.
Our condolences to the whole family from Roberta and I. Pastor Neil was the man who married us in Strathmore in 1986. He was also the man who led me to the Lord and modelled great faith and commitment in his Christian walk. Neil and Marilyn were full of hospitality and alway had people to their home after church and the ministry prospered here under his leadership. Our regrets for not being able to make the service – it would have been great to see the family again. With sincere and deep respect, Terry and Roberta Larson
Our sincere condolences, Marilyn and family. So glad we got to know you at Dore Lake. Neil and you were great friends to my Mom and Dad and we always enjoyed his sermons at Camp Carmel and the Dore church. Summer at Dore hasn’t been the same since Neil hasn’t been ministering here. The last time we met, Neil talked about how ready he was for his eternal home, but it won’t be so easy for the rest of you. Rhonda and Eric Dueck
Our condolences to Marilyn and family. We always enjoyed our meetings and get togethers we, while we lived in North Battleford and here in Abbotsford, BC. Neil’s times with were always enjoyable and gratifying. He will be missed. The few trips to Dore Lake were memorable especially our fishing expeditions.
Neil was my pastor when I was a child. Through his ministry, I came to faith. I remember his love for people.
We shared many special times together as families.
Sending love and sympathy to you all.
