Karen Elaine “Scotty” Palecki
May 10, 1955 – January 10, 2024
Karen Elaine “Scotty” Palecki (68) May 10, 1955 – January 10, 2024, peacefully passed away at home in Saskatoon with her loving family by her side. She leaves behind her husband Gordon, son Keith (Cassie) Pomedli, daughter Shannon (Rue) Pomedli; stepsons Gordon Jr. (Ginger) Palecki, Michael (Lisa) Palecki, William Palecki, and her beloved grandchildren: Sienna, Jack, Elicia, and Lillith. As well as her siblings Brian Scott, Stuart (Kareen) Scott and Glenda (Chris) van der Baaren; nieces and nephews: Ashley (LJ), Britany, Cassandra (Adam), Donald (Amanda), Felicia, James, Kimberly, Michelle (Jon), Rachel (Blake), Scott, Stephanie (Dilip); great-nieces/nephews: Adalyn, Adelaide, Alexandria, Anthony, Ariana, Emmalynn, Isobella, Kaia, Kaysen, Kieran, Nikolaus. Karen was predeceased by her parents Malcolm and Geraldine Scott and her brother Bruce Scott, of Radisson, SK.
Karen, or as many knew her, Scotty, touched the lives of everyone she met with her vibrant spirit, boundless love, and twisted humour. Her bond especially with her husband, children and grandchildren was immeasurable. Scotty loved camping (especially in the Rocky Mountains), rock collecting, snuggling her dogs Keyloni and Molly, reading books with her book club gals, enjoying many motorcycle rides with her husband, and joining in for coffee with their C.M.A (Christian Motorcycle Association) friends.
She had a strong faith in God. Her faith brought her strength, comfort, and acceptance in preparation of this journey back home with Jesus. On Sundays, you would often find her attending service at Elim Church praising and singing along with joy to the worship music. Sunday nights would again be spent at church participating in numerous bible studies with her daughter and her supportive sisters in Christ. Many prayers were answered during her battle with lung cancer, inspiring those around her. Her happiest moments undoubtedly were spent surrounded by those she held most dear. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support for all who knew her.
We would like to express our gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers of the Palliative Care Unit of St. Paul’s Hospital. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Elim Church, 419 Slimmon Rd. at 2:00 pm, Friday, February 2nd, 2024. We encourage those who wish to share a memory or funny story about Scotty at the service.
In lieu of flowers, Scotty requested donations in her memory be made to Lung Cancer research at the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, (https://www.cancerfoundationsask.ca/donate/).
Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. John 14:1-3
Arrangements entrusted to Dalmeny Funeral Home 306-254-2022.
